Creatures in your World

As you enter a small building, you see Incom, the horse who had helped you join, wearing a strange magnifying contraption on his head. He is staring down at some leaf samples on a table. As you approach, he looks up and sees you. "Oh, hi," he says, "I happen to be Head of Creature Department and also Head Scientist on this world. I study the species here that you may encounter during your Adventures. If you have discovered any, please be sure to submit them! You'll get credit for them. Oh, by the way, take a look at the list of Creatures below so you'll know what to look out for during your Adventures."

Feirans:
Genius: Reptilia?
Length: About 5 feet
Tail Length: 2-6 feet
Height: 2 feet at the shoulder.
Wingspan: 30 feet
Weight: 20-50 pounds
Life Span: Unknown
Intellegence: Uncertain, at least as intelligent as pack predators, sentience possible.
Food: Horses, lymexes, ptergalics
Appearance: Has a beaked head about a foot long. The beak is full of dagger honed teeth, capable of hamstringing a horse, and completely removing the tendon, in one tear. The slit eyes are large and yellow, having an intellegent, ruthless gleam in their gaze. Their sight is said to be extremely good. Unlike most reptilian animals, they have visible ears, that are transparent and ribbed like wings, sticking out of the sides of their heads at a distance of about 3 inches. The neck is fairly thick and about 6 inches long, connecting to the pronounced collarbone. The great wings serve also as long arms, having clawed hands on their ends. The legs are sturdy and muscular, taloned at the feet. The tail is a three pronged whip. Contrary to popular belief, they are not armored, and do not breath fire.
Habits: Feirans are pack hunters and attack in groups of three or four, diving for the tender, exposed parts. They prefer to make residence in mountains or large caverns. Any other habits are unknown, as the creatures are hard to monitor.

Lymex:
Genus: ?
Scientific Name: Troliri Brachias
Length: 10 feet
Height: 4 feet at "shoulder"
Weight: 1000-1500 pounds
Lifespan: 20 human years
Intelligence: about that of a dense cow
Food: Anything it can catch.
Appearance: Looks like a grey, fleshy blob with tufts of green fur. From a distance, it is often mistaken for a vegatated boulder. Unseen are the electric signals coursing form the Lymex, quickly alerting it to any creature within a five foot radius of its bulk. Upon treading in this radius, the "rock"'s upper part folds out to reveal a protoplasmic head with jaws that are large enough to rip off a horse's head. When alerted, the Lymex is nearly impossible to escape as it can strike very quickly. Their only natural enemies are the Feirans, who, as adults, can sometimes strike quicker than the Lymex and can cause a great deal of damage rapidly when in packs. Horses are not advised to attack likewise. Basically, keep wide berth of green tufted rocks, and your head should stay secure on your neck.

Ptergalic:
Genus: Bird/Reptile
Scientific Name: Averila Vengus
Length: 2 feet
Wingspan: 10 feet
Weight: 10-20 pounds
Lifespan: 30 years
Intelligence: About that of a raven (or maybe not. Equine scientists suspect sentience.)
Food: Carrion, occasional fruit
Appearance: The head is hook-beaked and feathered, with a ridge of vertical feathers along the top of the skull. However, the feathers begin to disperse as they get further from the head, until the black, leathery skin is fully exposed. The wings are likewise leathery.
Habits: They nest in rock clefts-laying about 3 eggs per litter. They cannot be tamed or domesticated and will attack fiercely any beast that comes near the nest, even the blood thirsty Feirans at times. Their voices are high shrieks which may or may not be language.

Ssabrils:
Lifespan: 20 years
Intelligence: High
Giagantic snakes, as thick as a thick tree trunk and as long as five horses muzzle-to-tail. They prey on large animals like horses and cattle, but fortuantly only eat once a month. Ssabrils have very thick, armor-like scales, and poisonous fangs. Their eyes can "hypnotize" prey.

Karbree beetles:
Lifespan: 4 months maximum
Intelligence: Fairly low, live mostly on instinct.
These are tiny bark- colored beetles, but don't let their size fool you. They gather in the hundreds on the bark of old, rotten, dead oaks, and when a creature dog-sized or larger comes by, they pounce and sting the creature with their highly poisonous stingers, then eat their prey. There is a salve that is possible to make, but only one creature ever found out about it and made the salve. That horse never passed her information onto another and died before she could.

Liolf
Lifespan: 10- 15 years
Intelligence: As high as any horse's
Height: As large or larger than a good- sized yearling
Appearance: Wolf- like, but larger than a wolf. They also have virtually no scent, and are difficult to see, as they are able to change color somewhat like a chameleon. The liolf as razor sharp, retractible claws similar to a cat's, and indeed are as agile as any feline. Their sense of smell and hearing is excellent, but their vision isn't very good in the day time. It is amazing, however, at night. The liolf is very fast but does not have great endurance, so normally they depend on stealth to capture prey. Some scientists think that the liolf is a bizarre combination of wolf and mountain lion.
Food: Anything it thinks it can handle without too much harm on its part.
Predators: Lymexes, Ssabrils, Karbree.
Habits: Some Liolfs travel in packs, others alone. Anything they do, they do for their benefit. If they think helping a horse is to their advantage, they will. But be wary when accepting the aid of a Liolf- they might change their mind and decide that you'd be better to eat than to help. Some, however, are actually "good", and could be a fast friend- there are records of that happening, but it is raare. Habitat: Liolfs will live almost anywhere, except swampland. They adapt to fit their enviroment, growing longer, heavier fur in colder areas, and lighter fur in warmer areas. They don't enjoy rain or wet, probably their cat nature, but they would put up with it if all other conditions were good or fair.

Montarians:
Pronuciation: Mon (as in Montana) tear (as in rip, not cry) e ans
Geninus: Reptile
Length: Adult males are about 60 ft long from nose to tail, Adult females are about 50-55 ft. Young are about 10-15 ft when born.
Height: Adult males are about 20 ft tall, Females about 15-18, Young are 4-6 ft tall at birth.
Weight: You don't wanna weigh these guys. Trust me!
Lifespan: Between 100 and 200 years
Intelligence: Very intelligent, work good as pack hunters, IQ about that of wolves.
Food: ANYTHING ALIVE!!!
Appearance: Very big! Looks kinda like a Komondo Dragon and moves like one too. They have very BIG mouths and large eyes. Their head, neck, torso, and first few feet of tail are about the same thickness. The adult male's feet are about 6 ft long and 3 1/2-4 feet wide. They have very small poisonous fangs compaired to the rest of their body. They have large bumps all along their tails, backs, and heads. The bumps appear to be part of the spine.
Lifestyle: There is one dominate male, several females, and many younger ones in a herd. Everyone hunts, even the babies that are only a few minutes old. Adults can reach a speed of 70 mph, maybe more. They usually hunt by chasing anything that moves until it stops from exaustion (which happens rarely), but most of the time they either bend down and just swallow their prey or step on it (they don't really crush it, they just kinda hold it down 'til they get their mouths to it). They live in large, tropical, grassy plains where there's lots of room to run.
How to escape from them: The best tip is to stay under the cover of lots of trees. Montarians can't travel well in dense forests. If you get caught out in the open by one and it's chasing you, turn quickly and run between it's legs. They're very slow when it comes to turning, and it can't see you under there and will usually forget about you. If a Montarian hasn't seen you yet (and they usually won't see you unless you make noise or move) just stay low and quiet, they probably just walk right past you.

Gyardolius
Scientific Name: Giarldos Muchicaltos
Genius: Water snake/reptile
Length: 50ft at birth, shortest adult recorded is 250ft
Height: 13ft at birth, shortest adult recorded is 76ft
Weight: 45lbs at birth, lightest adult recorded is 112lbs
Lifespan: Youngest recorded is 35yrs, oldest is 167yrs
Intelligence: Triple the intelligece of dolphins
Prey: Anything that is big enough
Preditors: None have been found do far
Description: A very long, snake-like reptile. Has webbed feet with 9ft claws that can easily tear even a Ssabril's scales down to the flesh. Prefers larger types of prey and is very quick on it's feet to leap over it's prey and slash it's back open in the process. The Gyardolius' spend the nights underwater, and float around the water's edge at daytime, perfecly hidden in the deep, dark blue water. When the Gyardolius multiply too quickly, instead of waiting for the offspring to hatch, they simply eat the eggs, and usually their own. If they are still overpoulated, they choose five of the elder Gyardolius, or seven, to kill. They have gills that work on land or water, but can only work on land for up to seven hours. If they fail to slash and kill their prey, they use their snake-like bodies to coil around the prey and suffocate it. It can't be spotted until it emerges from the deep waters, making it hard to avoid. Most are quick to anger, making them even more dangerous.
Habitat: Anywhere within a 20 mile radius of a large body of water
Other: Fears nothing, prey has little chance to escape once spotted. Particulary loves squashing Karbee Beetles.
