MONDAY MORNING MOMENTS July 28, 1996 Vol. II Number 27
Sunday morning we talked about being an encouragement to one another. It is so easy, and yet so hard. We seem to live in the negative. If some one were to ask you how is the church, how would you respond? Would you be a word of encouragement or would you talk about the problems that we have. By the way when you find the problem free church, don’t join it for where two or more are gathered together you will have a problem or two. If you don’t believe that just ask you spouse.
A young boy walked into a drugstore and asked to use the telephone. He asked the operator to give him a certain number: Hello, Dr. Anderson...do you want to hire a boy to cut the grass and run errands for you? Oh, you already have a boy? Are you completely satisfied with the boy you have? OK then, good-bye, Doctor.”
As the boy thanked the druggist, the druggist said: “Just a minute, Son....If you are looking for work, I could use a boy like you.”
“Thank you sir, but I have a job,” the boy replied.
“But didn’t I just hear you trying to get a job from Dr. Anderson?”
“No sir,” said the boy, “you see, I’m the boy who is working for Dr. Anderson. I was just checking up on myself.”
Perhaps this would be a good week to check up on ourselves. Are we a word of encouragement, at home, on the job, in the church or among my friends? Why not give a word of encouragement to somebody who wouldn’t expect it from you this week.
