MONDAY MORNING MOMENTS November 10, 1997 Vol. II Number 41

Life ought to be more than just a string of days, one after the other - each different, yet much the same when viewed from the perspective of time. Day after day, each one blending into the other, coming faster as they accumulate into years and years become decades. Unless we take time to ask “why,” that pessimistic statement, “life is hard, then you die,” may be an all too true commentary on our lives.

Christians, of all people. ought to live life with purpose. And our purpose is really not ours but His, if we have discovered the true essence of life...that is life with zest and flavor...life with a “little fire’ in it. Life that catches the attention of a sin dazed world and points them to a reality beyond the mundane monotony of a string of days.

Hear the words of Jesus as He calls us to a life worth living - a life that answers this question, “Why am I here?”

“Let me tell you why you are here. You’re here to be salt-seasoning that brings out the God-flavors of this earth.... Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world.... We’re going public with this....If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket do you? I’m putting you on a light-stand - shine!....Be generous with your lives....by opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:13-16 The Message.

We can’t give what we don’t have! Question: Are you salty? Are you shining? Is Christ’s life so present in you that others see and know the difference? We’re here to bring out the “God-flavors” and the “God-colors” in a bland, sin-dulled world.

You can be one to make a difference. That’s why we’re here! And that’s what makes life truly worth the living.

“Look at the Nations and watch - and be UTTERLY AMAZED. for I am going to do something in YOUR days that you would not believe even if you were told” Habakkuk 1:5
