I listened to some children singing an old favorite of every generation. Its a song about a determined spider. The song goes...
The itsy bitsy spider
crawled up the water spout
Down came the rain
and washed the spider out
Out came the sun
and dried up all the rain
And the itsy bitsy spider
crawled up the spout again
How much like life that is! We get ourselves positioned in life and low and behold down comes the rain and washes us out. Are we as determined as the spider. The spider who is so small it could be missed and the water so great it swept him away. No way could he withstand the onslaught of the water, so he just rode it out.
But the spider was determined, He was not going to let a discouraging circumstance destroy his joy. At the first possible moment he crawled back up the water spout, where he made his nest and caught his food. Life went on, and he was the better for it.
Many times in relationships we risk loving, and then something happens and we are hurt or offended and it is difficult to reach out again. But like the determined spider we need to maintain an attitude of success and crawl back up the water spout.
Now let's all sing together, "The itsy bitsy spider crawled up the water spout.."
