I commend you on your excellent and obviously dedicated work! Keep it up! Although I suspect that we are not of the same "sept", Scots blood will out! My gmother was a Gibb, born in. Her father, James,b. Lanarkshire abt 1820, immigrated from Scotland to PA in the 1840's, where he was a hard rock miner, as he had been in Scotland. He worked and saved enough to return to Scotland, where he married his childhood sweetheart. They retd here in 1850, settled in IL, where he became a coal mine mgr and owner. His itchy feet took him to Montana in the mid-1850's - leaving his young wife and 5 young girls in IL. He mined in MT for a couple of years, returned to IL and took the family back to MT, where my gmother was born. Although he didn't make much on gold mining, he was a very successful hotel owner and rancher. Although he had been a hard rock miner all of his life, he was, very ironically, killed when his sod roof chicken house caved in on him! Just thought you'd like to know a little about our mutual "stock"!
all best,
Al Schofield

Passing yourself off as an ACCOUNTANT! I've called the accounting police and they will be around directly in a grey van to bore you into recanting. Nice site - all the other doors I knocked on at Geocities were not moved in yet or lightweight.

Hi...I enjoyed reading your site. I found it when researching my maiden name - Cheyne - I live in Woodstock, Ontario, Canada. Interestingly enough I lived for 7 months in 1985-1986 near Melbourne, a small town named Lang Lang. I have lots of info on th
Cheyne's from Ireland. If you wish to contact me at the above email for more information please do. P.S. What is the weather there ? It is -12 degrees celsius tonight and will go lower. The wind chill factor will make it feel like -25 degrees celsiu
. Trade you your weather !!! ....Robin

I feel that somewhere along the way there must be a connection between your Fooks family and mine. As all my ancestors that I have traced so far came from Dorset, with living descendants being in Queensland and South Australia.I can trace back to Robert F
oks 1730's.

Very nice page!! I loved your article about trying
to find out why people did what. That, I think, is
the hardest part of genealogy - to try and figure
them out.
Have a good time on your European vacation.
It sounds wonderful!!

I read directions from a helpful person who warned of text sometimes getting lost against background cause Baby boomers who are getting older may have eye problems and more and more are using the net. I laughed hard since I am 77 years old. and see that
ou, who are younger than my son wear glasses. So does he!
Love your site and your planned trip in May. Suppose your lines run parallel to mine. Norman, English, Scottish, Ulster Scots and all else thrown in the pot. Hope to join Heartland Genealogical group and gab with you on you return. By then I might ev
