About Art and Christmas decoration
Christmas is approaching and again I have all paws full to do to fix our Christmas decoration properly. I'm sure that wherever you are, if at your place there is Christmas you are likely to be facing the same fight to teach your humans at least some elementary notions about art and decoration |
Most humans, let's admit it between us, don't knows the first thing about art and at no other time that is more evident that at Christmas time. Every year they want everything exactly the same as it was the year before, all must be conventional, symmetrical, traditional and... boring. |
Talking of art, it is true that some humans exceled in it, like Leonardo da Vinci (he said that we are masterpieces, remenber ?) who was able to put that perfect cat smile on Mona Lisa's face, that has been admired for centuries. |
But sometime humans, like my own, seem to forget that art evolves: see what happened not long ago when they went to an art exhibition and saw just at the entrance a turned over pail with sand surrounded by some bricks and mortar, all scattered around: |
Only when they heard people saying "how original" "shocking" "truly modern" "fantastic" it dawned upon them that it was an artwork ! Do you think that educated them ? Guess what they said (better not!) when I turned my litter box over in the same artistic way... |
But returning to Christmas, all my efforts to arise a little
artistic sense in my humans during the whole year (curtains with holes in them look so
much better) were of no avail and so I'll have to take Christmas decoration once more in
my own paws.
First, that wreath that is put on the door - why must it be so boring round ? |
Next, all those gift wrappings - must they really look so predictable all- alike ? |
and then the Christmas tree - wouldn't it be much more original displaying the ornaments beneath it instead on it ? I bet you never saw another one like this and beside its shocking look one can climb on it unhindered by all those gleaming stuff. |
I wish you all a Merry Christmas, full of artistic surprises and a really fine, open-minded New Year ! |
