Dear Brethren,
It is good to be home again. The first Sunday after coming back from Lae
Catherine taught her ladies class in Hagen and I went out to visit the
brethren at Nunga Plantation. Than morning at Nunga 12 people were
baptized and two others repented. Most of the members from Momgol and Kimel
were there too for the big day. That morning Robin Gabori from Hagen gave
the lesson. This is one of the places I have been going to every Tuesday
night for months. There were six Christians at Nunga
before. The Lord has really given a wonderful increase.
The next day, June 1st, we held another one week school in Hagen. I
prayed that the Lord only send the men we could afford to feed for a week
and then send back home. Sixty-two came from 16 congregations. It was
easier to handle the 62 men rather than the 175 who came two months ago. I
was really impressed that so many did come this time. We had been in Lae
teaching in the Bible school there all month. Therefore we had not been out
to the villages promoting the Hagen school. And they still came anyway. We
spent a week of great fellowship and study in the Book of Acts starting at
7:00 each morning with an hour of prayer, then classes.
Every afternoon the men went into town to do street preaching, and each
evening two different preachers proclaimed the word in a gospel meeting.
The Sunday after that I was asked to preach in the village of Barawaghi,
where one more was baptized and five repented. (They knew the one fellow
wanted to be baptized that morning, even before I got there. That shows
that they have been doing a lot of teaching.) These brethren have
established two other congregations this year. One congregation is a four
hour walk to the West which includes a swim across the mighty Wahgi River,
and the other is three hours walking to the East up under the face of a
limestone cliff.
Yesterday, Wednesday night, another young man was baptized in Mt. Hagen.
His name is Steven, and he is the very first of his clan to obey the gospel.
Surrounding the church property in Hagen there are four clans. Steven is
from the clan which lives on the hill behind just our house.
Thank you all for your continued prayers. God bless you as you continue to
serve.
For the Master's Cause,
Andy Scott
