My love of Dolls is one of the most fulfilling and rewarding Hobbies I've experienced. I am an accomplished seamstress as well as a passable artist so I find all aspects of Doll-making, construction as well as costuming, a pleasure. For many years, I have custom costumed many antiques and reproduction types. I am especially fond of reproducing clothing from photographs for 'look-a-like' dolls.
The art of repair and restoration of collectible Dolls is very fascinating. Each time I receive a 'over-loved' doll or toy, its like a new and exciting journey to bring it back to 'Life'. Careful consideration must be given to the amount of restoration. Some collectibles will lose much of their value if the repairs are too extensive. Therefore, The owner must decide which is more important, actual collectible value or sentimental value. I usually find that with most people, it's the latter. They just want to be able to have their treasure back in displayable condition or want to give it to a grandchild or other beloved child as an heirloom gift. Almost any doll or toy made of fabric can be repaired and restored to an 'almost new' condition. All it takes is a little time, patience and a LOT of love.
