[M]y Capps line did not have any Cherokee blood or other Native American, though allied lines (Fly family) are said to have some Cherokee descent. My Capps line is thought to have come from England, and there is a listing of a William Capps on one of the ship's lists in the late 1600's, but we (myself and others researching the same lines) have not been able to link to this yet. My Capps line appears in Hyde County in the late 1700's, then in Orange and Alamance Counties in the late 1700's and early 1800's, before moving on to Grainger and Weakley Counties, TN. My specific line then goes on to Texas County, MO, and then to Coweta, Waggoner County, OK, which was in the Creek nation when OK was still Indian Territory. Elizabeth Guynn
I don't have any other Capps other than those on line and the "Thomas" I have has a middle name of Edward. It seem this Capps group was in N.C. in 1829 and in Decatur County Indiana from 1853 -1863 and in Kansas 1867-1874 and some of them of this line ended up in Missouri and California and Germany and Colorado so are pretty spread out now.
