[M]y grandmother was a Capps. I have information on several Albert Capps who lived in the Princess Anne County (now Virginia Beach) area. I don't know if they are related in any way.
In the Charity United Methodist Church Cemetary is a Capps group including Albert L. Capps, 11/23/1875-10/4/1955.
On the 1870 Census index for the Pungo Area of Princess Anne County is a Albert S. Capps age 45. It is roll #1673 page #298.
I also have an old Capps family chart which has an Albert Capps, son of William Capps and Martha Cavender Smith Capps. Albert married in 1843 Argent Moore and in 1847 Mrs. Nelly Bonney. He had a sister named Martha [Capps] and step-brother Edward Smith.
Also have Albert Capps, son of Jesse Capps, Jr., and Ann Harrison Capps. Albert married Anne Lane in 1853. He had sisters Susan Ann [Capps], Mary F. [Capps], and Sarah [Capps] who married Newton Hartley, and brother Jesse S. Capps.
The 1850 Census for Princess Anne County shows the following:
Born | |||
Jesse S. Capps | 49 | Farmer | VA |
Anne [Capps] | 45 | " | |
Albert [Capps] | 25 | Laborer | " |
Harrison [Capps] | 7 | " | |
Virginia F. [Capps] | 3 | " | |
Davis or David [Capps] | 2 | " |
I don't know who the younger children belonged to unless Albert was married to someone else before Anne Lane. Sandra
