CAPPS information

    Willaim Bennett m. the second time in Warren Co. NC Kizany P. Capps on 22 June 1822. I descend from his first marriage to Harriet Davis so I do not know anything else on the Capps family. However there were a lot of Capps in the Warren Co. NC area. Maybe you could check that out. Jo Wood

    My husband's family (Parker) is from N.C. His father moved here to S.C. My Capps line comes from my ggg grandmother Mary Ann Capps who married Joel Ridgeway (my ggg grandpapa). They were born about 1813. All of the other Capps from around here seem to have moved to Alabama.

    Angela, I haven't heard any Native American Stories except that my father believes his side of the family has Native American blood, which is also the side that the CAPPS are on. It is true that both he and his mother have/had dark skin, as if they had been working on a tan for a couple of summers, and high, prominent cheekbones. I don't know how well this may speak of Native American blood, but I sure would be delighted to find such in my family lines. His mother, by the way, was the CAPPS connection. Her mother was ADA ORR who m. JOHN W. CAPPS; I believe the W stands for Washington. His mother's name was ALICE MALINDA CAPPS. Some of the older CAPPS names I have discovered since I posted the message you read are:
    W.L. CAPPS, JESSE HENRY CAPPS, JESSEE CAPPS, LUCIA MAE CAPPS, SAMPSON CAPPS
    . . . well, they're not really that old, the oldest one I have seems to be an 1876 birth, but the older information is what I'm looking for. If any of my CAPPS names match any of yours, please let me know because I truly would like to trace this line further back than 1876. Suzy

    I don't believe that I have much on the Capps family as of yet. I am researching my husband's maternal line--Ivey. His grandfather, Almond Ivey, married Dollie Elizabeth Capps. She died sometime after 1933. She could have been from Johnston Co. Betty G. Tripp

    [I'm l]ooking for info on James W. Capps, believed to the father of Samual Capps b. 1812-16 in SC. James married Martha ? James was born ca. 1791, SC. Anything would help.
