For those of you who are living your lives without a flop-eared lovable bassett in your lives, let me tell you what you are missing!! If you enjoy loud barks, stubborn behavior, hog-the-bed sleeping and crusty-eared friends, then a bassett is just the ri ht friend for you!! Sadly, my own beloved Abby just passed her 10th birthday and is getting deafer with each passing month. She is my sole companion and I dread the day when she will no longer pester me to take her out walking (not that she can go very ar or fast, you understand!). But what a marvelous friend she has been over the years . . . countless laughs and hours of brushing. She is my second bassett; Lucy, my first, lived with me in North Carolina years ago and was the same affectionate crazy nimal that Abby is today. Who can imagine life without bassetts?? (Sane people, perhaps . . LOL!!)

hello there, i can't tell you what a joy it is to know there are people out ther who love thier bassets as much as we do!!!!!sadly we lost our susie last week and our others jake and dove miss her very much. we love the breed and have been involved in field trialin , but retired our bassets because they are all getting old.. susie(deceased)would have been 11 next month,jake is 13 and little dover is 7 .it's a great thing to love a basset. it takes patients and more than a little tolerance, but what you get in return is soooo worth it. thanks for sharing a little basset love with us!!!! still sad in sighning, kathie

There is sooooo much I could say about animals in general but dogs are my favorite pet. It s just very hard to select just one type as my heart loves them all !!! Right now we have no pets in-residence due to losing our precious Penny after 19 faithful and loving years. We DO, however, pretty much "raise" a beagle (Buddy) from down the road and a black lab (Lucky) from next door !!! They spend more time at our hou e than their own. We bred and raised beagles for a number of years but I always wanted a bassett hound...hubby convinced me that they have back problems and I couldn t stand to have them in pain !!! I sooooo much enjoyed your pages and pics with info. Keep up the terrific work and I will check back another time.
