Now, with the needle, catch the strand of yarn that is on your left fore-finger (fig.4).

Draw it through the thumb loop to form a stitch on the needle
(fig. 5).

Holding the stitch on the
needle with the right index
finger, slip loop off your left
thumb (fig. 6 ). Tighten up the
stitch on the needle by pulling
the freed strand back with
your left thumb, bringing the
yarn back into position for
casting on more stitches
(fig.2) .

Do not cast on too tightly. Stitches should slide easily on the needle. Repeat from * until you have cast on the number of stitches specified in your instructions . KNIT STITCH (k)

Hold the needle with the cast-on stitches in your left hand (fig.7).

Pick up the other needle in your right hand. With yarn from the ball in back of the work, insert the tip of the right-hand needle from left to right through the front loop of the first stitch on the left-hand needle (fig.8).
