Hamster Time
"What the heck is hamster time?", you say? Well, its shorter, thats what. Humans in the U.S. live an average of 76 years (rounded to 75), and hamsters live an average of 1,000 days (rounded to 3 years). Those are the statistics used to make these transactions.
Why? Well, you can tell how old your hamster is, thats why. If you know the day your hamster was born, you can have a birthday for it every 2 weeks thereafter. You will know when it is at its peak of strength (age 35 for humans) and when it is at its mid-life crisis (age 45 for humans, or around there). Ever hear of "Dog years"? Well, here's hamster years (and more).
Human Time | Hamster Time |
1 year (365 days) | 2 weeks (14 days) |
1 day (24 hours) | 1 hour (60 minutes) |
1 hour (60 minutes | 2.5 minutes (whatever) |
"How do I tell when my hamsters birthday is?"
Find out (or estimate) when your hamster was born. Then count on a calendar how many 14 days (or how many 2 weeks) have passed. Lets say your hamster is 29 weeks old. Divide that by two. That means there are 19 "two-weeks" (or 19 times that 14 days have passed) in her life. So that means she is
19 years old (Just math, nothing to be afraid of)! Now keep track every time 2 weeks pass thereafter. You can write it down on your calendar if you want. And you can have a birthday with your hamster every 2 weeks!
