Religion is a funny thing. Many say that it is a way of cowering behind stories and fables to prevent opening your mind to the truth. And for what? To feel that there is someone always watching you? Sure, at first it may be cool to think that there is someone always listening to what you say, but after a while you just feel like a freak staring off into space talking to no-one. You should be making the most out of your life, learning all that is has to offer. Not worshiping some fake god. Doing what other people tell you to do. They say religion is spoon-fed to you when you are a child. Because your parents taught you to be religious, you are. You don't know any better, you just do what your told. Well, WAKE UP.
That theory is sickening. Is that the reason so many people in our society today are not independent and refuse to open they're minds up? If there was no religion, there would be no protests against scientists going into space. Not any wars about whose god is real. Not as many people bombing abortion clinics saying that it is the wrong thing to. So, you want another neglected baby in this world? Trust me, forcing a person to have a baby is not the right thing to do. Or, when you look at it that way, forcing a animal to have a baby is the wrong thing to do to. If you want to let your children experience the miracle of birth by forcing your pet to have babies, you should also take them to an alley or animal shelter where animals are put down each day, either from diseases and neglect or from having no homes, where the babies are most likely going to end up.
But back to my subject. Now, lets take a common religion of the U.S : Christianity, dissect it, and see what it is made up of. WARNING: Do not try this at home.
Christianity was originated in Greece. Obviously, men made the book. Our first clue is the numerous references of stealing wives and adultery. The book and religion were obviously made long ago, since they are both writhing with sexism.
Also, a rather confusing trait when practicing this religion: Aside from the story book (the bible), everyone has some crazy answer to your question. Example: "Why can't pets be allowed in Heaven?" and "Why are there no females in the bible, except to have babies?". All the heroes in the bible are male. God is referred to as male. And of course, "Jesus" is male. They expect to beleive in some super-hero that this God sent to earth. Where's all the proof? Whose Jesus' mom? He has a dad, doesn't he?
Another sickening thing about the bible is the sexism (as I said above). Not to mention the animals abuse and cruelty. A good example of both is the following: For 5 days after a women's "magical monthly moon cycle", the woman is "unclean". To be clean, after 5 days she has to kill a bird. This is terrible. There is also more references to animal cruelty about being holy if you kill a perfectly healthy goat and splash its blood around a church. What kind of gruesome nonsense is this? Are Christians praising some animal abuser, who finds comfort in seeing an innocent goat murdered and its body disrespected?
"So, which of the hundreds of religions out there are true," you ask. Dozens of them say THEY are the true religion, and all others are phony. Well, in the end, your going to end up in the same place: being dead. After that, who knows? Maybe you go where you decide to go. Maybe you start another human life, or an animal life. Maybe you go to some place in the sky where you live out all eternity with some joke of a god and a whole bunch of deceased people (oh, that sounds fun..). In the end, I believe it depends on how you feel before you die. The only religion that can leave you with a great feeling is the one based on living your life to the fullest, spreading your ideas around to the world, and doing what you can to help the next generation.
