A while ago my brother-in-law, " Jason- the abominable" hooked me up to a strange little place known as mIRC. I had just come home from work, was tired and all out of *creative juices* when he asked me what name I would like to be known as.
After some really lame suggestions I came up with *Eliza* ... oooooo... *how exciting*! hehehe There is more to it than that though!! Honestly, I am not *that* boring! :) My nick is from a character in a Jane Austen novel called "Pride & Prejudice". I am hoping someone knows the book I am talking about.
Aaaanyway, my favourite heroine at the time was Miss Eliza Bennet - a charming, sexy, feisty and educated gal who had guts and a few spunky men in her life. *wish* *wish* I wanted to be living her life, hence my nickname.
Oh by the way.....
I am nothing at all like her but we can all have dreams :)
I have a Bachelor of Teaching and work as a private tutor with special needs children. My students vary in age from as young as 5 to as old as 15. Mostly I teach language and math. I adore my job. There is something very satisfying about making children believe in themselves when they are all too used to thinking that they are dumb. In my class there is no such word as *can't*.
I have lived in Canberra for most of my life. The only interesting variation was a short stint in England where I was ~oh so lucky~ to be blessed with the birth of a little brother... more about him later.
For those of you who don't know, Canberra is the capital of Australia and is a terrific place to live! Ok Ok Ok! So it takes a good imagination to accept that last comment. I really do love it though. Hrm, I have a cunning plan >:)
I will set out a little
profile below with the low down on me to save you having to plough through
my ramblings.....
Where I hang out:
Best feature:You can either find me on ICQ #6386113 or chatting away aimlessly on IRC. I am always on an Austnet server. You could try typing in /server au.austnet.org I hang out in #chat-world or #casual most of the time. If you can't find me there.... urm... send me a noteop message! Know how to do that? *grins* Type in /msg noteop send Eliza <and your message here.> Do I sound desperate to be contacted? hrmmm... hehehe *Freaks need not apply!*
Favourite things:I absolutely hate watching people getting ganged up on. It pains me to think that people get pleasure from making people squirm. Don't get me wrong. I can be a big bitch if the situation calls for it, but I despise 'hurting' for the sake of it. There is too little time in our lives to spend it persuing weaker people or running from stronger people. Life isn't always fair, but where I can I try to make a level playing field. Just take a little time to hang your head in shame if you enjoy a little "bullying" now and then. *hug* If you have an opinion, share it, but have the gutts to sit back and let others share theirs.
Art Galleries~ They smell nice and the pics aren't bad either!
Books~ Jane Austen- Complete Works. Anything by Nancy Cato, Dick Francis or Tom Clancy.

Photography~ I double majored in Art at college and took black and white photography. I did some funky things with 'solarisation'. My favourite artists in this field are Ansel Adams and Robert Maplethorpe.
Driving~ I am quite happy to get in the car and roam around aimlessly. My pet hate is when people stick to the 'advised' speed limit >:)
Impatient people~ I am impatient in almost everything I do. Impatient people make sure things get done. I hate it when people procrastinate!
Being challenged~ I love to work for things that I want, to go against the odds or debate a point. Even more than that I like the people that force me to do it all.
Jim Carey ~ mymymymymy... he is pathetic. Look up *wanker* in the dictionary (oxford pocket sized version)...
Infomercials ~ the title implys that they provide *information* They provide headaches. "Oh da pain... da pain!!"
That skin you get on coffee because you forget about it.
Bill Gates ~ the bugger stole all my ideas!
Apathy about Education ~ Not enough people are concerned about the underfunding of schools or the pressures placed on classroom teachers. May I just remind everyone that, next to parents, teachers are the ones to shape the leaders of tomorrow? Why don't you appreciate the work they do a little more? *gets off her soap box* :)
Bad phone manner ~ I hate it when you call up a *help* service and the person on the other end speaks to you like you are *putting them out* Grrrrr! * Gets out her needle and injects them with a personality*.
Lazy people and people who wallow in self pity ~ just can't stand them.
Joe Cocker ~ anything of his is great.
Celine Dion ~ *Titanic theme song* (because Boss-Man dedicated it to me *hugs*).
Chumbawumba ~ Tubthumping woo hoo! This is my theme song. :)
Smash Mouth ~ Walking on the sun.
Violent Femmes ~ absolutely anything they do... best album is *Blind leading the naked*.
Generally most alternative music but I'll be damned if Triple_J ever tells you who the artists are!!
Massive Attack~ The song 'Teardrops' is very cool. I love Elizabeth Frasier's voice.
Crowded House~ amazingly talented guys. *sob* *sniff* I can't believe they broke up.
ARKANA!! ~ 'Eat me' gets be pumping. I wish more people had heard of them. They just made it into the Triple J hottest 100. Check out the trip..trip...triple j site and you might hear them.
Classical piano pieces~ My sister serenades me with the prettiest classics and I am grateful and happy to listen.
Aretha Franklin~ Can that lady sing!?! "r-e-s-p-e-c-t... "
"BraveHeart" ~ This is probably my all time favourite. It wasn't a minute too long if you ask me... tell me who wouldn't want to look at that sexy face for three hours anyway?? *drool*
"Dead Man Walking" ~ it moved me increadibly. Not a pic I would watch too many times because it made me ill, but it was something people need to see to force them to think about a society that is fast becoming monstrous. *sigh*
"Starship Troopers" <-- saw this with Attitude in Adelaide. An absolute giggle!
"Room with a view" This flick taught me that the only way to really get to know a city is to get lost in it's streets. Oh, how I have tested that theory,,,, it is true :)
"Good Will Hunting" I loved it more than the Titanic. I wish I had his mind...
"Blues Brothers" What can I say? I know it nearly word perfect!
