Hi We came across your website while searching for info on vomiting. My 10 year old has been having episodes for some years now and because of her recent bout with it for the past few days we decided it was time to get it diagnosed by a doctor. We decid d to go and do a search on the net and came across your site and lo and behold, she has the same symptoms as your daughter but we have been able to control the dehydration. At least if she has be dehydrated I didn't know it and we have been lucky so far. ny liquids, water or herb tea, she would throw up but her vomiting only lasts for 12 to 18 hours but the headache can be a few days. I am so thankful that you have this site. I couldn't believe it when I read it. I am so sorry Rebecca has this problem an I think she is a very brave girl. My daughters name is Cassi and she is very brave too. She hates the vomit monster also, and loves kitties. She also hates being sick. Again I thank God that we came across your site because I know that this is what she has and it gives me hope with something to work with. I use alternative medicine, herbs nutrition, and vitamins and have alrady e-mailed some naturopathic doctors and alternative medicine web sites in hopes on getting some insight to work with this proble from a nutritional or herbal method. I come from a line of medical people and know that chemical medicine only works so far. Sometimes you can hit something nutritionally and get to the cause of a problem, not just take care of the sympton. Thanks again. God Bless your family. Ceceile

Actually, Alex's mom works with me and she helped me find your web page. She wants me to give you his information because he has had this since he was 3 years old. I am 24 and have had CVS for 14 years now. The doctors would always tell me that they hope I would grow out of it. They have come a long way in finding the right medication to help shorten my episodes. The first year I would be in the hospital for five ays and now I'm only there one. I had CVS since I was 3 months old but I was only diagnosed when I was about 6. I am now 26 and haven't had an episode in 13 years. Has your doctor told you anything about diet affecting the severity of the episodes? In my case, diet made a big difference too many proteins made things worse and when i cut back on them, things got much better. Feel free to e-mail me. Wishing you all the best!

Joe has had some unexplained bouts of vomiting always first thing in the morning after which he falls asaleep for afew hours and is then perfectly o.k.they seem to occur at either 2 4 or 6 weekly intervals. The doctor is vert sceptical of our suggestion a he says cvs is very rare! Joe is 3 years 6months and the attacks began about 6 months ago any advice very welcome as we are hoping to see a consultant paediatrician next week

I read your daughter's story and it relates to my son Spencer. He was diagnosed with cyclic vomiting at age 4, and now appears to have ADHD and alot of depression. He is obsessed with scary things and draws scary pictures. He is starting counseling nex week. He only gets phnergan suppositories when he starts an episode of vomiting. Spencer has a problem with excessive activity. He can't run and play or get too rough with other kids, or this will start a cycle. Does your daughter have problems with xcessive activity? My name is Laura Barbour and I live in Chicago, IL with my three daughters, Ashley, 13, Megan, 9 and Kaitlin, 6. Megan was just released form the hospital tonight, for the second time this month. I was trying to get some information off the internet abo t Zofran, and came across your webpage about your daughter and her CVS. What a shock! Over the past six months, Megan has had eleven episodes of unexplained vomiting. At first, alot like you, I thought the poor kid sure got the flu an awful lot. As the episodes increased, the severity of the vomiting did also, eventually producing blood It was very frightening for both Megan and I. At one point she looked at me and said that she thought she was going to die. What a heartbreaking statment to hear from one's child. Today the pediatric gastroenterologst asked me if I had ever heard of Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome. Had I? No. Never. It sounded to me like something this man had made up just to appease me. So, as I said, when he prescribed Zofran for my little girl, I ecided to find out more information about it. Imagine my surprise and extreme joy to come across your story to find out that my daughter is not the only one who this happens to. We are no longer alone. Aside from the CVS, Megan was born with no uterus, ovaries or vaginal opening. She also experiences severe migraines. I give her liquid Lortab for those. Megan has missed an awful lot of school this year, but still manages to maintain striaght A's. Sh liked to watch videos, ride bikes, play with her sisters, bake cookies in her Easy Bake oven and read. Math is her favorite subject at school. She has a cat, a hedgehog, two birds and a frog. Aside from the CVS, she is a happy, normal, beautiful littl girl. Is your daughter still on Zofran? Does it still work? How expensive is it? Are there any side effects? Do you have hope that she will grow out of the CVS? Or is this a lifelong illness? How does she do in school? How do YOU cope? How did you get t e home health care for your daughter to get the medicine? And how did you arrange to have direct admittance during her vomiting episodes?? Margaret missed 10 weeks of school with this vomiting. They (school) would not let her come unless it had been 24 hours since last vomiting. I am only 3 years old but i have been visited by the pukemonster every 5 weeks since I was 20 months old. My mom just found out about CVS and I hope i start to feel better soon. My kitty is 13 years old and he is black and white. My big brother named him fter Batman's friend.

You mentioned that Zofran worked for Rebecca. Was this a medication that she rec'd every day or was it given right before the episodes. We have tried many medications for my son, Nick. Nothing has really worked. I am willing to try anything at this point. You are the second person that mentioned Zofran. We didn't realize when the Doctor told us 2 years ago what cyclical vomiting was. We just assumed that he was telling us this and that it was due to migraines that my son was getting the vomiting. We didn't realize that it was a real illness. Now we h ve a name for this illness that has really taken its toll out on us. We always called it "the dizzys" I don't know about your daughter, but my son gets very dizzy. Is this something that your daughter goes through? Hope all is well. Give us an update.
