THE FAMILY HISTORY OF JARED BAILEY OF CONNECTICUT

My name is Tim Bailey. I am the 4g grandson of Jared Bailey, b 1758 in New London County, CT. Jared was a veteran of the Revolutionary War. This web site is the story of his lines, as far back as I can find them. This Bailey surname line starts (as early as I can find it) in 1655 with the marriage of Thomas Bayley to Lydia Redfield. This Bailey line is a dead end prior to that, although, as the gedcom shows, other lines can be traced back much farther.

Jared Bailey (and all who follow his blood-line) may have been a direct descendant of Mayflower passengers John Alden and Priscilla Mullins, made famous by the poem by Longfellow, through Jared's mother, Mary Fish. Jared's connection to the pilgrims through Mary is disputed; another family claims that Mary Fish, and says Jared's Mary is from another line. Until that dispute is settled--if it ever is--and we find we are not related to those famous pilgrims, Alden links will be found below.

NOTE: It is becoming evident that the Mary who was the wife of Jared was not Mary Fish, or at least not the Mary Fish many people thought she was. For now Jared's Mary is a mystery. I'll leave the Pilgrim data in, though, in case anyone wants to view it.
