I have a prayer request
to those I know
and to those I don't know.
Pictured below is James.
He is the grandchild of a very special person, my friend Lucy.
He was born with a congenital heart defect, that required immediate surgery at birth.
Now, May 3,1998, he is enroute to a hospital in Oklahoma City.
An earlier echocardiogram found the pressure in his heart had increased to a dangerous level.
Tomorrow he will undergo a angioplasty procedure to verify and possibly correct the problem.
If the pressure readings are true,
the doctors will wake him up to let him rest
and operate again the next day,
performing a procedure called "The Ross Procedure".
This process involves taking his pulmonary
valve
and replacing the defective aorta valve with it.

UPDATE:May 4, 1998
James came thru the angioplasty procedure but as we feared, they are preparing to operate in the morning to replace the valve. Your prayers have brought him to this point..please continue with your prayers and remember this family as you wake in the morning. On behalf of the family and myself..Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers.
UPDATE:May 5, 1998
James has come thru the second operation; some complications occurred, causing the surgery to last a little over 7 hours. They had to split his sternum and he is now on a ventilator. The next 2 to 3 days are critical. Your prayers and kind thoughts have brought him thru all this , and I know they will continue to give him the strength to overcome all.
UPDATE:May 6, 1998
Wow! The Power of Prayer!!!!!James woke up in the middle of the night , the doctors took him off the ventilator, and the first thing he said was "I want juice." Grandpa said it made him sick and they told him when he ask for more that the doctor had to say it was ok....that worked for awhile but then he told them "Go get the Doctor." He is in his own private room as of this morning and already wanting to get up. The Doctors are amazed at his recovery process and if it continues at this rate, he will be coming home from the hospital soon. Please continue with your prayers for a swift recovery and a safe journey home back to Texas. Once again, THANK YOU all for the prayers and thoughts that has help this family thru a very difficult time.

Great News !!!! James is home in Texas..and running..(when his mom is not looking).
This is the first time in his young life that
HE FEELS GOOD !!!!!!

UPDATE: August 18, 1998 3 month check up..Everything is fine....
Had to get a pair of glasses,
but he likes them. Mom and Dad are doing well too!!!!
When I made this page, it was for my friend, Lucy and her family.
But, these last couple of days, this page has generated so much love and prayers from not only our friends but from strangers around the world, that I would like to dedicate this space for
ANY PRAYER REQUEST from ANYONE.
I BELIEVE in the POWER OF PRAYER,
