SweetHearts vs Southern Edge It didn’t take long
to realize this game wasn’t going to be a good one. The storm clouds
were rolling and everyone figured we only get a small bit of the game in.
Southern Edge hit the ‘Hearts quickly for six runs in the first 10
batters of the top of the first. Even though the first two outs came in the
first three batters, the SweetHearts struggled to get the next out. The team
even let a “dropped third” get away from us. The home side of the
first saw the Hearts takes the walks and turn them into five runs to nearly
catch up to Southern Edge. The top of the second saw
Bayleigh have the best inning this year as she put together a couple of
strike outs and very good fielding. As hard as the Hearts tried to put
runners across they could only manage Bayleigh after her triple to lead off
the inning. The team managed to get Lauren around to third but three straight
strike outs killed the change to tie the score leaving the game 6-7. The teams began the third
knowing that the inning would never be played out due to the SPAR time limit
rule. The team began to make position changes and pitching changes. Southern
Edge took advantage of all the changes by gaining three additional runs
before time was called. |
