We no longer breed Abyssinians, but here is a summary info on this beautiful breed.
Abyssinian cat origins to ancien Egypt. Is is often called papyrus cat. This breed was founded in Abyssinia, that gave it its name. Nowadays abyssinian cats are descendant from Zulma, subject imported to England in 1868 after a military campaign in Abyssinia (now Ethiopia).
The Abyssinian is well-known for its elegant and muscular body, arched neck, large ears and almond-shaped eyes. Hind legs are slightly longer than the front legs and give it a very feline look. Every peal has different colors. This is called ticking and is a caracteristic of abyssinian.
This is a very active people-oriented cat.
