Working on cut -paste- copy..Sure makes things easier..Have a long way to go..seems as though the internet is infinte. Noticed that granbury is located close to Ft.Worth. In 1943 the army needed bodies to make the D-Day inv sion..I was very content as a gunner stationed with an antiaircraft unit where the Sn Francisco airport is now situated..Out fit was dis banded and sent to Camp Howze ,Texas for intesive infantry training.Camp Howze was North of Denton and east of Gainsville as near as I can recall. A real hell hole.Hot dry.merciless..tar paper shacks for barracks..from July 15 till the end of August...running up and down the hills with 85 llbs. of equipment..Left the states in Oct.43 More training.My division landed in normandy 6/14/44. 79th Inf. Made all the way trough till the end of the war as a rifleman. 2000 never came back..still choke up when I think about it. Enough-I'm reminiscing. As I said before your site has been extremely helpful.
