WHAT TO FEED YOUR GOATS

Goats have a high nutritional requirement, which varies according to the stage of growth they are currently at. With most goats, excluding dairy, brush and forage will meet most requirements. Goats will consume 4.5 pounds of dry matter per 100 pounds of body weight each day. During the winter when brush and forage aren't available supplement will be needed. This supplement is normally in the form of hay. Fresh water and a mineral block should be available at all times. Grain is also recommended. Watch your goat's body weight to see whether the grain needs to be increased or decreased. Some choices of grain include:

Goat Chow - Commercially prepared and formulated for your goat's needs.

Sweet Feed - Sweet Feed for Horses is a mixed ration that goats do well with

Prepared Food - 1/10 pound of soybean oil meal, 1/2 pound of corn, 1/4 pound of oats. This amount is measured out for what each goat needs daily. You may also choose to add vitamins or minerals to this mixture.
