Quota history
Founded in 1919 by Wanda Frey Joiner in Buffalo, New York, Quota International was the first international women's service organization. A successful business executive herself, Wanda Frey Joiner wanted to provide women in business the opportunity to network with other professionals while giving back to their communities. Today Quota's membership is open to men as well as women and Quota has members in North America, the South Pacific, Europe, Southeast Asia and the Caribbean.
Quota International of Anchorage
was chartered in 1952. Quotarians of that time funded a visit by a leading hearing specialist, who came to Anchorage to screen deaf children in Alaska. This project eventually led to the formation of the Alaska State School for the Deaf. All funds raised in Anchorage are used in Anchorage community.

What you should know about membership
Membership is by invitation. QUOTA is an attendance club and 100% attendance is desirable. If members visit another city or town where there is a Quota Club, they may "make up" a meeting by attending that Club's meeting within 3 months of their own missed meeting.
Fees
There are costs in being a Quotarian. There is an initiation fee and annual dues that are collected yearly. Part of the dues are for International, part are for District dues and the remainder are for local administration. Each club sets its own dues, but International and District dues are set at International Convention and District Conference. Clubs usually have either a lunch or dinner meeting, and, of course, there is a meal fee associated with that.
