The 3rd Object of Quota

TO EMPHASIZE THE DIGNITY OF ALL USEFUL OCCUPATIONS

Robert Browning once said "...my Business is not to remake myself but to make the absolute best of what God made..." We can interpret this to mean, "It is not so much the talent we have, but the use of it. Not so much the job we do, but how we do it." At one time in our history, not so long ago, a person in "business" was defined by where they worked, what profession they followed, how they dressed and business was conducted on an extremely formal basis. Now, at the dawn of the 21st century, the way that we do business is being rewritten. Home businesses are springing up all over the landscape. Workers, supervisors, CEO's make use of flex time, and telecommute. That stay-at-home mom may have an advanced degree and work out of a home office. Members of Quota International have had the forsight to revise membership criteria to encompass an entirely new work force. Thus we EMPHASIZE THE DIGNITY OF ALL USEFUL OCCUPATIONS.

The 4th Object of Quota

TO DEVELOP GOOD FELLOWSHIP AND ENDURING FRIENDSHIP

Whatever may be our achievements as individuals or groups, without love and friendship our achievements afe meaningless. Friendship and good fellowship are a perfect team and never has there been a time better seasoned for furtherance of these qualities. Therefore, it is fitting that we make full use of friendship and fellowship within small groups like ours. "To be a Quotarian is a privilege, but no privilege is without duty. Quota International places its reliance upon the interest of every member and Quota International is content with nothing less than something better. Quota International's standard is high and it must be maintained. I believe if we give more of ourselves to Quota International's 4th object, we will be a happier club: TO DEVELOP GOOD FELLOWSHIP AND ENDURING FRIENDSHIPS."

Coming together for our meetings is a beginning!

Keeping together is progress!

Working together is success!

The 5th Object of Quota

TO ADVANCE IDEALS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, INTERNATIONAL UNDERSTANDING AND GOOD WILL

Ideals of justice and righteousness vary among peoples. As Quotarians, let us do our part toward a better world by really trying to understand other people instead of expecting them to understand us.

"Our Quota Objects should be the basis of all of our Quota involvement. The fact that they were formulated by our Founders, and to this day remain a part of our constitution and Bylaws, are a strong recommendation for exploring them; enthusistically re-embracing them; and sharing them; as we go forth serving our countries and communities. Each time that we plan our program meetings, our service programs and any other involvement where Quota is concerned, if we keep our Objects in mind, we will have better results. This can contribute to the growth and strength of our organization and we will have an organization that we can offer to qualified persons with pride."

This interpretation of the "Objects of Quota" were written by Gail Martin, Past President of the Quota Club of Richmond, Viginia on January 22, 1979 and edited for use here by Sue Lang, Past President of Quota International of Anchorage, Alaska,June 3,1998.
