Thank you all for the Christmas cards and letters you sent last year - we enjoyed them all! Where did 2003 go?!!!Doug presented me with a very special gift last Christmas. It was a ceramic Hen and taped to its feet were tickets to the musical, “Mamma Mia”, in Toronto. Jane and I made the trip in February, during her school break, and just before the SARS outbreak. The play was great, with all that wonderful Abba music. We also joined the audience of “City Line”, one of my favourite TV shows, visited the CN Tower, went to a show at Second City, the Royal Ontario Museum, and of course the Eaton Centre. What a great three days!
In May, Jane graduated from the Nova Scotia Agricultural College, with High Honors and a place on the Principal’s List. She received her B Sc in Agriculture, with a Major in Animal Science. Her hard work earned her an interview at the Atlantic Veterinary College, PEI, but she was not one of the nine Nova Scotians chosen for the program. She moved to Charlettown, PEI in August, and has a job in Rustico. She has applied again to Vet School. Prayers are welcome!
In May and early June preparations got underway for Mary’s wedding, with the dressing up of the Blue House, which was 25 year old in November, and deserving of a sprucing-up anyway. It was given new life with a much darker shade of blue, off-white trim and plum coloured doors. The interior was upgraded as well.
The wedding was on June 28th, and we all survived it. We are pleased to have Rob Hill for a son-in-law. Mary and Rob live in Fredericton, NB, where Rob, a brand new chartered accountant, is employed with the firm Bringloe Feeney. Mary will be starting a new job in January, at UNB, as a “Proposal Research Officer”.
In August, we visited Lowell, MA, for a long weekend, where we attended the wedding of our niece, Tara Duffy to Rob Hunt. It was great to see all the American MacLellans and especially Aunt Rene.
Sarah is now in Grade 11, and is learning to drive. She loves rock music and being with her friends. Frosta, our seventeen year old cat, enjoys sleeping and eating fresh mackeral.
Doug’s big news this year is that he finally broke 90 in golf.
I just plug along. I continue to enjoy the Aqua Power (fitness) program, and am still active in the Garden Club, after 20 years.
The family joins me in wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year!
We think of you at this time of year,
‘though we are miles apart
May this special greeting we send your way
keep us close at heart.
