My little Karina smiled today, and in it I saw you
The sun shone today and the sky was blue
I knew for sure, your eyes were upon us
As she reached her first milestone with gust.

Markitos, the pain in my heart sometimes overtakes me with grief
And I find myself crying uncontrollably...still with no relief
My little one, almost senses my sadness and smiles or coos
And I know in my heart, she's bringing me a message from you.

The message though not loud or clear
Is always saying the same..."please keep me near"
The nearness of you tell me, HE chose you and you are fine
And that you have promised to be that ANGEL of mine

Upon your death, I asked you if you would?...
Watch over my family...our family...if you could?
And everyday I wake up to Karina's smiling, crying, or laughter
I know you have kept your promise still another day after.

Please know that you live on in my heart
And that helps fill me even though we are apart
Karina never got the chance to meet you in life
However, I have awakened many nights, seeing her smiling and I
know she is with you, flying in dreams filled with strife

Karina will know how great her TIO MARKITOS was
