The Mark Aliaga Memorial Scholarship

The Mark Aliaga Memorial Scholarship is a $500.00 award to a Deer Park High School graduate who wants to continue a post-secondary education in pursuit of a professional or educational goal at an accredited college or university. The recipient must be a member of the Deer Park Marching Band and should demonstrate that they are capable of succeeding in an educational pursuit.

Information and Requirements

Applications should be requested and returned to the Memorial Award office, not later than April 15th preceding the fall term for which the scholarship is requested. The scholarship will be announced at the Deer Park High School Awards Program at the Commencement ceremony. Upon verification of the recipient's requirements, a check in the amount of the scholarship will be forward to the recipients's college.

The following requirements must be included with the application:

  • The Deer Park High School transcript.
  • Letter of recommendation from the DPHS staff.
  • Verification of full-time enrollment from the recipient's college
  • A self evaluation letter including any,
    • volunteer work in community activities or,
    • service through church or,
    • involvement in service-oriented school organizations or,
    • individual efforts to help others and improve the local community or,
    • activities connected with service-learning programs in your school.

Eligibility

To be eligible the senior must conform with the following requirements:

  • The application for the award is open to all Deer Park High School Seniors. In the absence of a qualified senior, the scholarship award will not be awarded that year.
  • The recipient must have demonstrated academic achievement and should be capable of pursuing his/her chosen educational goal.
  • The recipient must be of high moral character.
  • This scholarship will not discriminate against age, sex, ethic background, religion, physical or mental challenge.
