True Friends
I found my true friend
not long ago
It was starting to get cold
and there were warnings of snow
We promised each other
that we would always be together
How would we know that day
would change our lives forever?
We set out that day
to have a ball
Soon after
the snow began to fall
We walked on together
our arms held tight
You couldn't pull us apart
with all of your might
With numbness
taking over our feet
We started walking swiftly
across the street
With blindness from the snow
I couldn't see
That a car was heading
straight towards me
All of the sudden,
I felt a hand
It pushed me away
and onto safe land
As I lifted
may head hazily
I saw his badly hurt body
lying next to me
If he was alive
I didn't know
As his blood started
to dye the snow

and I held onto it tight
I knew if he were to survive
he would have a fight
I knew then, that when he ran
and gave me that shove
It wasn't meant for hurt
but only for love
A few words were passed
I know he meant what he said
he took his last breath
and then he was dead
I found out then
that he was my true friend
As I heard the ambulance coming
from around the bend.
I started to scream
for they were too late
he was already gone
he had fulfilled his fate
His beautiful brown eye
were never to open again
And they were never to see
what could have been.
Right then and there
I promised never to let go
I remember that now, as they lower his body into the snow
We Love You Mark and we will miss you dearly.
