American Sign Language

links and resources

American Sign Language(ASL) ranks third for languages used in the United States. It is complete and complex language -- NOT a visual representation of English.

ASL is the sign language of Deaf people in the United States (and parts of Canada). Other countries have their own sign languages, for example, Finnish Sign Language, Austrailian Sign Language.

Learning ASL takes many years of study, just as learning Spanish or French. Becoming an ASL interpreter requires a high level of proficiency and a lot of natural talent.

Deaf people are fiercely proud of their language and culture.
