All the listed families emigrated to Cleveland, Ohio (West Side, of course) between about 1870 and 1885. All ended up in St. Colman's Parish by the 1890's. I believe my Fergus (William M.) may have come from chill, but saw the many Masterson in western part of Burrishoole and was encouraged. Great grandmother was Bridget Masterson. She married Michael Grielis and they had four children John, Patrick, Thomas, and Anna (my grandmother). Anna married William G Fergus in Cleveland. William G.'s parents were William M. Fergus and Mary Murdock. William M.'s father's name may have been Patrick. Mary Murdock's mother's name may have been Barbara. |

Mayo. Though some of their children emigrated (Canada and US), apparently they did not; they lived in Burrishoole Parish, town of Shanvallyhugh. The 1832 Tithe pplotment Book for Burrishoole lists a "Pat Lognane" and a "Roger Loghney", who may be Patrick's son. Patrick and Ann's son Patrick emigrated to Canada (1846) and then to the US (1864, Wisconsin), and was my great grandfather. Son Roger emigrated to Wisc nsin as well. Any further information about Patrick and Ann Darcy Loughney or heirs/ancestors will be gratefully received. |

The frustrating part of the search is that Patrick's parish/townland is unknown. He eventually emigrated to Leeds, England; married, and emigrated to the United States in 1880 to Philadelphia. My grandfather worked for John B. Kelly Bricklaying Company in Philadelphia, and I have been told that John B. Kelly's father was born in Newport, County Mayo.
