Lady Bugs!
On Friday, April 24th we received our ladybug larva. With our ladybug habitat we are observing the ladybug's life cycle. We have discovered that while in the larva stage the ladybug looks totally different. In Fact they look like bugs I've seen before.
Our larva look like the one's below. Some of the ladybugs are entering the pupa stage. I have also included a picture of the ladybug in the pupa stage below.
Larva Stage 4 Pupa Stage
Our chicken eggs and seem to be progressing well. Although we cannot see inside the eggs, we read a few books and looked at some diagrams of what our chicks look at during each stage. We are looking forward to seeing our eggs hatch. Hopefully. our eggs will hatch around May 6th. They will hatch into Welsummer chickens.
Ms. Clendaniel ordered Painted Lady butterfly larva (caterpillars)and they should arrive next week.
On June 5th through 8th we will be hosting an Alex's Lemonade Stand with our 4th grade buddies. Last year PreK and the Builders Club raised $900 for Alex's Lemonade Foundation. This year we hope to raise over $1,200. We would like to give our service project a jump start by having friends and family visit our Lemonade Stand website and donate to this great cause. Be sure to visit our Alex's Lemonade Site and share it with family, friends, and coworkers. After April 23rd our site will display artwork from our preschoolers and 4th grades.
Many of the children have mastered their letters and letter sounds and are now working on sight words. You can find the sight words (we use the Dloch pre-primer sight words) and learning activities by clicking on related links at the right side of the page.
