John Covey from Matthew Covey
"Nancy's Delight", August 15, 1764
Memorandum the following deed was recorded the fourteenth day of November anno domini seventeen hundred sixty and four Maryland ____. This indenture made the l5th day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty four by and between Matthew Covey of Dorchester County province aforesaid planter f the one part and John Covey of the county and province afore- said planter of the other part witnesseth that the said Matthew Covey for and in consideration of the sum of five pounds current money to him in hand paid by the said John Covey or otherwise secured to be paid before the signing sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof I the said Matthew Covey do hereby acknowledge myself therewith fully satisfied and contented and thereof and every part and parcel thereof do exonerate acquit and discharge him the said John Covey his heirs and assigns forever and by these presents hath given granted bargained sold alienated enfeeoft and confirmed and by these presents do fully freely and absolutely give grant bargain sell convey and confirm unto him the said John Covey his heirs and assigns forever all that part of a tract or parcell of land lying and being in Dorchester County called and known by the name of Nancy's Delight begining at the first bounded tree of the said land then runing the several courses according to patent next adjoining the said John Coveys land untell it includes thirty acres of land to have and to hold the above bargained land and premises with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in anywise appurtaining unto him the said John Covey his heirs and assigns forever to his and their own proper uses and behoofe for evermore and the said Matthew Covey for himself his heirs do covenant promise and agree to and with him the said John Covey his heirs and assigns forever his shall and may from time to time and at all times forever hereafter by virtue of these presents peaceable quietly have hold use occupy possess and injoy the above bargained land and premises with all singular the appurtenances thereunto or in anywise appurtaining and the said Matthew Covey for himself his heirs do further covenant promise and agree to and with him the said John Covey his heirs and assigns forever the land and premises abovementioned against him the said Matthew Covey his heirs and assigns and against all and every person or persons claim or to claim from by or under them or any of them unto him the said John Covey his heirs and assigns forever shall and will warrant and forever defend. In witness whereof the said Matthew Covey hath hereunto sett his hand and seal the day and year abovewritten.

On the back of the aforegoing deed were the following endorsements.
August the 15th 1764 personally appeared the within named Matthew Covey before us the subscribers two of the right honorable the lord proprietary his justices of the peace for Dorchester County in his one per person and did then and their acknowledge the within deed of bargain and sale and the land and premises within contained to be the right and property of him the within named John Covey his heirs and assigns forever according to the true intent and meaning of the within written deed in testimony whereof we have hereunto sett our hands the day and year abovewritten.

August the 15th 1764 received within named John Covey the sum of five pounds current money in full satisfaction for the within mentioned land 5 pounds. Test. Dan Sulivane.
Signed Matthew (XX) Covey
Received September 1st 1764 of John Covey one shilling and two pence half penny sterling for an alienation fine due the Lord Baltimore on the within mentioned land Nancy's lott 30 acres.
