BRANNON, WILLIAM, American Revolution -- He served a total of 496 days both as foot soldier for MD Militia from 25 March 1779 to 15th Sep 1779 under Capt. Hambleton and Col. John Thomas; and as a horseman from 7th of June 1780 to the 7th of April 1781 with Capt. Major Parson and Capt. James Bridges Company under Col. Roebuck and Col. Andrew Pickens. Therefore, Wm. Brannon would have been amongst the mounted state troops, militia and volunteers that joined with Col. Wm. Washington's 3rd Dragoons in the Battle of Cowpens and had a significant role in helping to defeat Tarleton's Army. This was a major turning point in the war and led to a victory for the Patriot's by Gen. George Washington. William Brannon resided in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Revolutionary War Records on ancestry.com show that he was born in VA. It is also believed that he served in Washington's 3rd Light Dragoons commanded by Col. George Baylor.See Documents

Born in 1843 at Henderson Co., NC; died at age 83 & 7 mos. on Sep. 5, 1926, Comanche Co., OK, Reg. #64; Have copy of military record.

Records show that in August 1812, in Athens Co., Ohio, Aaron Haney and other Haneys joined the War of 1812 as volunteers, 2nd Reg't under Capt. Nehemiah Gregory.

PIERCEALL, RICHARD
American Revolution - St. Mary's Co., Maryland; 1776-77 5th Independent; 1778 Upper Battalion (Capt. Jordan) Have copy of pension record. During an interview at age 89, Richard indicated that he was born in 1744; enlisted at Leonardtown in St. Mary's Co., MD in 1776 as a Private in the Maryland Line, 5th Independent Company under Capt. John Allen Thomas, 2nd Lt. Davidson, and 1st Lt. John Stewart as well as Col. R. Barnes; then as a Private under Capt. Charles Jordan. He also recalled association with Ensign Henry Niel, and 1st Lt. John Blackstone. His station at Leonardtown was for the purpose of guarding the town, storehouse & warehouses from the British troops. He remained at Leonardtown until he was discharged due to having consumption. Upon recovering, he returned to service for about 1/2 month. Richard died in Green Co., KY after 1840. The 1840 Kentucky U.S. Census shows him still living in Green Co. at age 99!
SEAY, REUBEN -- Ancestry.com Revolutionary War Bounty Land Grants lists: Seay, Reuben, VA, Private, 21 Jan 1784, 200 acres. Following data was supplied in "The Brannon Family" by Nina Coles.
"General information about Reubin Seay from the records of the National Archives, Washington, D. C. He was a soldier of the Virginia State Line during the Revolutionary War and was issued a certificate for pay the4th of August, 1783 as a soldier of artillery, for L 82:7:4. Said certificate being delivered to Mr. Banks and was for services prior to the 1st of January, 1782.'
An affidavit, duly sworn to by James Seay, on December 29, 1845, states Reubin Seay was at the siege of Little York (Yorktown) and was in an entrenchment when the walls blew out injuring said Reubin Seay's eyes sorely. His eyes grew worse until within a few years he lost his sight completely and remained blind until his death.'
Mathew Seay made an affidavit, dated November 20, 1847, stating his father, Reubin Seay, came to Spartanburg Co. from Amelia Co., Virginia in the year 1805. He also swears to the date of the death of his father, giving as reason for remembering the date as being a few days before he and Prestly (Presley)Ballenger commenced a mill dam.'
Mathew Seay, in a statement sworn to in open court in Spartanburg, states he was 56 years of age in 1846. "..And that there were three children older than Mathew and seven younger that survived the father Reubin Seay."
SMITH, CHARLES -- "Union Soldier" - He enlisted as a private on 5 Jan 1864 at the age of 19. Enlisted in Company G, 36th Infantry Regiment, Iowa on 5 Jan 1864. He was a POW on 25 April 1864 at Mark's Mills, Arkansas, and returned on 25 Feb 1865. He was mustered out to Company G, 36th Infantry Regiment, Iowa on 24 August 1865 in Devall's Bluff, Arkansas. His residence was Centerville, Iowa as is verified by the 1860 Iowa U.S. Census. He is the father of Gertrude Smith. See Pension See Disability Log
