For you who may be wondering about the teachings and doctrines of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, particularly the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon, I offer a simple promise from an ancient prophet:"Behold, I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things, and ponder it in your hearts. Truth, which is spiritual, can only be fully comprehended, understood, and validated spiritually. Much truth, particularly about really important things, like who we are, why we're here, where we go after this life is over, our relationship to God and to Jesus Christ, and so forth cannot really be found and understood by 'book learning' alone. If we rely simply on book learning, we will miss the sweet joy of truly understanding and the quiet confirmation of truth. Another prophet, one of Jesus' twelve disciples, has also made essentially the same promise: "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all (emphasis added) men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him." These two powerful promises, if exercised as these prophets outlined, will let the Holy Ghost manifest the truth of all things to you. Go to the source of truth. Don't be blinded by the reasonings and philosophies of men, who presume to know the mind of God. Ask Him. He will tell you. |
