Maneka Gandhi enlists Rohit Bal - India's top Designer's  support for animal welfare.

People For Animals, India's largest animal welfare organisation chaired by the Hon'ble Minister, Smt. Maneka Gandhi, believes in involving India's top talent in its crusade for a kinder and more compassionate world. Its latest fundraiser is a spectacular example of the country's most glamorous people coming together to promote kindness to animals. What began as a small crusade has today become a national movement with chapters in every major city. Through education, litigation and field work like setting up hospitals/shelters, running ambulances and conducting medical camps, PFA is working to change attitudes and behavior across the country and bring about the ethical treatment of animals.

People For Animals has 145 units and over 2.5 lakh members. It has opened shelters in dozens of districts - including major animal hospitals/shelters in Delhi. It is running animal vaccination, sterilisation and adoption campaigns in all the major cities. Its goal is a kinder, gentler world for all. For it is only when all species can exist without fear, that man at the apex of the structure can truly hold his head high.

Every city in India needs an animal shelter for distressed, accident-hit, abandoned animals. PFA has undertaken to fulfill that need. Beginning with Delhi. We run 24 hour ambulance for emergency pickups for sick and hurt animals, operate a fully equipped mobile clinic to treat and transport accident cases, run an adoption service for rescued animals, and conduct educational programmes in first aid and the care of domestic animals.

We have three of India's largest hospitals and gaushalas in Delhi alone and over 50,000 animals a year are looked after by us. Naturally we cannot do this alone. In fact none of it is possible without your support.

PFA depends solely on donations to fund its vigorous and vital work. It depends on people like you. The greater your contribution, the more money we can put into the building and running of an animal hospital the city can be proud of.

To raise funds for this, People for Animals had organized a fundraiser in collaboration with MR. ROHIT BAL - India's top designer, who had specially designed T-shirts for People for Animals for an exhibition called SOPHISTIKATS.

A T-shirt fashion show and an exhibition/sale for 3 days from 7th to 9th July, 2000 was organized.  The proceeds from this exhibition went towards an ambulance to augment People For Animals' free service to treat and transport sick and injured animals.
