OBJECTIVES:
1. To experience and discover how people can move from one place to
another by using their legs, an animal, or a machine such as:
cars, trucks, buses, trains, planes, boats, and space ships.
2- We travel by sea, land , and air.

Blocks: Display different types of pictures or photographs of
different modes of travel.
Put out cars, trains, etc.
Build highway/runway
Build a maze with blocks.
Put a steering wheel in block area
Build spaceship.
Make sky-land-water poster

Art: offer easel art daily:

Transportation collage

Science: See block area above for extension of ideas - open ended
questions
Put pieces of rubber tires out
Set up a pulley.
Put out license plates from different states.
Sink and float / oil and water bottles.
Feely box
Display different types of tire tracks.

Literary: Display lots of books with animal pictures in them.
Experience - trips to the museum (on post), airport, etc.
Make stick puppets for different types of transportation.
Sticker stories with cars, trains, planes, etc.
Allow children to dramatize the story such as the "Little ENGINE
THAT COULD", etc.
Allow children to bring in different types of transportation and
make up story.
Vocabulary words - how people travel: driver, passenger, fuel -gas,
car, seaports, docks,
marinas, runways, bridges, etc.
Books: Flying, Cars, The train to Lulu's . The magic bubble trip,
etc.

Dramatic play: Set up dramatic play to represent any of the block
area ideas and/ or
Provide an assortment of hats for transportation role playing,
pilot, sailor, etc.
