My son Garrett is 3. He was diagnosed last month. He was having a hard time with signlanguage until I started doing some ABA therapy I read out of a book. He is now starting to imitate the beginig sounds of words and his singing has just exploded. Good luck.

My daughter flips through phone books and other
books, she stims alot. and she makes barking
noises too. Sometimes people stare at her
because of the weird things that she does.

This is an excellent page! You have some amazing young men! I also have an autistic son, Matthew, who turns 5 in September. Matthew was diagnosed three months ago and since then I've been soaking up information like a sponge. Funny, but when I was reading
your pages about David and how it was when he was first diagnosed and his progress to date, there's so much about him that reminds me of Matthew. Matthew isn't speaking yet but I've noticed that when he makes his "sing-song" sounds, he's moving and shapin
his mouth differently, like he is trying to form words! And he has progressed in so many ways since his diagnosis. Keep up the excellent work with David! To me, you have a remarkable little boy and his brothers are equally as remarkable. May God continue
to bless you and your family.

I really enjoyed your website! Our son Zachary is HFA and developmental delay. I had a chuckle about how David flips through the phone book as Zack does the same thing. Sounds like David is in a really good school that is willing to go the extra mile.
We are also fortunate that way. We are lucky as I have learned that there are some that just can't seem to find cooperative school systems. Keep up the great work with your website and I wish you all the best with your big, wonderful family!

Hi David! I really liked your site. I'm a teacher for young children with autism and we'll soon start to use the PECS system. I hope that we are successful as you! Bye!

Your story is very fulfilling for me. My son, Tyler who is 3 1/2 has severe developmental delays, although he hasn't been diagnosed with Autism, he does show some signs. He is still non-verbal. He attends school 4 days a week and they are using PECS at
school and I need to begin using it at home so I can establish a schedule for his daily routines etc. The morning schedule you have outlined is great and would be so helpful, especially since he doesn't like his teeth brushed either. I have already sent
n email requesting your help in purchasing some PECS card for home use. I look forward to hearing from you. I will keep in touch.

Your page is awesome.:-) I enjoy learning about autism and asperger syndrome.:-) I don't think there is near enough awareness about it.

PLEASE obtain information on Applied Behavior Analysis. Our son was just diagnosed at age 15 yrs and we are using an ABA/Discrete Trial Training program in our home through the "ABLE Center at the Cleveland Clinic with results only after 2 months. He is
erbal but has severe social deficits and is moderately dev. delayed. Another family is using the LOOVAS program for their 6 year old dau who was nonverbal and after 4 months was asking for candy. It is unbelievable !!!! I wish we'd had this program when
Jeremy was young. I hope you obtain the info. If I can obtain anything for you PLEASE let me know. GOD BLESS all of you. Nancy

Hi, I surfed onto your website from the Special Angels ring. I am a preschool teacher's assistant and I know several children who are autistic. They are such special children!! My daughter was in a developmentally delayed class for 1 1/2 years and ther
were a couple of autistic children in her class. They can amaze you sometimes! David sure sounds like a special and amazing child! We lost our first born child to a rare cancer then when we had our third child she has something called Turner's Syndrom
which is a chromosome abnormality so I really understand what a parent is feeling when your child is "outside the norm". I also understand the questions you ask God, I did a lot of questioning myself. I also understand that you feel truly blessed becau
e I do too. I wouldn't trade my life with my beautiful children with anybody!! Please visit my page and meet my lovely family. Best wishes to you and your family!! Regina

I am a Scout Leader with Scouts Canada and I will be doing a
workshop at our Provincial Jamboree in July on "Working with
youth with Disabilities". I'm looking for ways to help
leaders to respond to and teach our youth with challenges. I'd
forgotten about the PECS until coming to David's pages. Great
stuff. Val

Hi Linda; I just got a chance to check out David's website. What
a handsome bunch of boys you have! Someone once told me that
autistic children are often especially beautiful - I think that's
true, at least about our boys!
