Tim Hefner, Dennis Robinson, Keith Saunders, John Poe
•
Eastern Sky is based in Newton, NC, in the western Piedmont part of the state, between
Winston-Salem and Asheville and about 45 miles northwest of Charlotte.
•
The group was formed in 1992, when John joined Tim's
existing solo gospel music
ministry. Dennis joined the group in 1996.
•
Beverly sang with the group for several years,
and played bass when the group performed live with instruments.
(The three guys play guitars: Tim - electric, Dennis and John - acoustic)
•
When not playing and singing, Beverly also runs the sound board controls for the group,
as does Tim (when she is not available) and their son, Darren.
Darren is also part of another band, but that is another story...
•
Both Tim and John do the song arrangements for the group,
record song tracks for live performances and recording projects,
and write gospel songs. Tim does the recording, mixing and CD production for the group.
•
Dennis sang baritone, Tim had the lead, and John sang tenor,
when the group first performed as a trio.
•
In 1999, Keith Saunders joined the group,
making Eastern Sky a quartet.
Keith took over the high tenor part,
and John switched to bass.
•
In 2002, Keith left the group to devote more time to his growing family,
and Eastern Sky once more became a trio. This time
Dennis took the high tenor, with John moving to the baritone
position and Tim still singing the lead part.
That is the current line-up.
•
The group performs regularly at rest homes, nursing homes,
churches, schools,
reunions, camp meetings, concerts, etc., throughout western
North Carolina.

Eastern Sky has a separate web site with more
