An Inventory of the goods, and Chattles, of the Estate of Barnabas Reiley late of Hamiltonban-township, Adams County, deceased, Appraised this 23rd day of October, Anno Domino 1818.
Before me Amos Maginly esquire one of the Justices of the peace in and for Adams County personaly came Samuel Hoover and John A. Scott and they being Sworn according to law saith that the above is a true and perfect Inventory and conscionable appraisement of the goods and chattles which were of Barnabas Reily late of Hamiltonban Township in Adams County deceased
To the honourable William Scott & Daniel Sheofer ______ judges of the orphans Court of Adams County now having a court at Gettysburg for said County this 21st of September 1819 -
The Petition of Alexander Mack administrator of the goods & chattles rights & credits which were of Barnabas Rily late of the Township of Hamiltonbann in the County of Adams onl. Decd. who died intestate
Humbly I heresaith that the said intestate left ifsue children, to wit, John, William Margaret Barnabas Michael Lydia Ann - That the personal Estate of the said intestate is insufficient for the payment of his debts as by the account herewith produced appears: and that the said intestate dies seized in his demisure or of per of an in a certain rufsuage & two lots of ground in Millers town called Fairfield _________ & situate in the Township of Hamiltonbann aforesaid Your petitioner therefore humbly prays your honours to grant him an order to make sale of the said nufourge & two lots with the appurtinans for the payment of the debts & the maintenance & causotian of the minor children of the said intestate and he will pray & -
appeared in open Court the above petitioner Alexander Mack and on his oath doth by that, the account herewith constituted contains all the intestate personal estate whatsoever as also a just & true account to the best of his knowledge & belief -
We acknowledge ourselves indebted to William Scott and Daniel Sheffer Esquires Judges of the Orphans Court in and for the County of Adams for the use of the heirs of the Estate of Barnabas Reily decd. in the Sum of one thousand dollars lawful money of Pennsylvania, to be leveed of our goods and chattels, lands and tenements upon the Condition, that Alexander Mack, Administrator of the Estate pf said decd. shall faithfully execute the powers committed to him in making Sale of the real estate of said decd. agreeably to an Order of Orphans Court, and truly account for and pay over the proceeds thereof, in such manner as the law said Court may legally decree.

At an Orphan Court held at Gettysburg for the County of Adams on the 21st day of Decemr. in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & nineteen Before William Scott & Daniel Shaffer Esquires Judges &c afsigned &c. The Petition of Alexander Mack Administrator of the Goods & Chattles Rights & Credits which were of Barnabas Riley late of the Township of Hamilton Bann in the County of Adams deceased who died Intestate, was read to the Court Setting forth that the said Intestate left Ifsue Children to wit John, William, Margaret, Barnabas, Michael Lydia Ann - that the personal Estate of said Intestate is insufficient for the payment of his debt as by the account herewith produced appears, and that the Said Intestate died seized in his Demerne as of fee of and in a Certain Mefsuage & two lots of Ground in Millers Town which is called Fairfield Situate in the Township of Hamiltonbann aforesaid and praying the Court to Grant him and Order to make Sale of the Said mefsuage & two lots with the appurtenances for the payment of the debts, and the maintainence and educating of the Minor Children of the said Intestate. The said administrator having produced & exhibited a true and perfect Inventory of the personal Estate of the said decd. and also a Just & true acct. upon his oath of all of said Intestate's debts - It therefore appearing to the Court upon due process & consideration had of the primf. that the personal Estate of the said Intestate is insufficient for the payment of the debts & maintaining & educating the minor children of said decd. untill the oldest attains the age of twenty one years or to put them out to be apprentices & to back them to read and write. It is thereupon allowed ordered & directed that the said administrar. make public sale of the said Mefsuage & two Lots of Ground situate as aforesaid on Saturday the Nineteenth day of February next at 11 O Clock A.M. on the premises (the same being upon the best computation of the said Court Judges necefsary to be sold for the purposes aforesaid). And the Court further order & direct that before any such sale is made twelve writings be made by the Clerk of said Court upon perchment or good paper Signifying & Giving ten days notice of such Sale & of the day & hour when & the place where the same will be held & what Lands are to be sold & where they lie which notice shall be delivered to the Sheriff in order to be fixed up in the most public places of the County of Adams at least ten days & before sale and that publication of the sale be made in the Adams Centinel at least ten days before said Sale & that Alexr. Mack Administrato as aforesaid bring his preoceedings therein to the next Orpans Court after the sale so made -
I hereby certify having given due and timely notice of the time and place of sale I _____ the vacant lot written ____ on the day within named, on the premises, by public aucer__, and sold the same John Criswell for the sum of five dollars cash he being the highest _________ ___ & this the highest price bid for the same; & this the other lot remains unsold for want of buyers - which such I pray may be conf___ at a further order for the sale of the residue of real estate -
The above being erroneous, the same sale having been com___ before the Court Order the same to be vacated -
I hereby certify that by virtue of the written order I exposed the house and lot within named to sale at public aut___ on Monday the 25th day of Feby AD 1820 after having ____ due and true of notice thereof and ____ the same __ to Barnabas Rily for the sum of two hundred dollars the one half payable on the 1st day of this A.D. ____ and the residue in two equal annual payments - be being the highest white bidder and this the highest price bid for the same - which sale I pray may be confirmed -
