This page was constructed before the death of Enola on the 15th of December. I didn't even get a chance to take a picture of her since my camera was out of tape, and I didn't get a chance to update the page because I had expected to update it on Sunday anyway--but then the gerbils I had been expecting did not arrive and I had to put the update off til the 16th.

      Enola Eben Lautrera, born on the 14th of December, 1997, is the sole member of Phoebe and Ciaran's second litter. She was born exactly on her mother's year and a half old birthday. This is funny, because I hadn't expected Phoebe to have any more pups, partly because she hadn't gained any weight! But now I know why I always had a feeling she was a little bigger than usual.

      Enola was born while her older siblings, "the quints", were still living in the tank. They were so sweet to her! They kept trying to poke underneath Phoebe and see what the little new guy/girl was. BTW until I'm sure of her/his gender, I will call it "her" because it's just easier for me to remember.

      I'm worried about her, though. Litters of one are frequently abandoned, and, though Phoebe seems fiercely devoted to her, her survival is in doubt, in my mind. Let's all hope she makes it.
