THE CATHOUSE GANG

Remembering our beloved "Pips".

We are so sad to mew that our Possum has joined Stubby Checker, who passed to the Rainbow Bridge on September 23, 1999. We lost Possum on May 17, 2004 at the age of 24.

Stubby was a brave kitty during her final year as she gallantly battled paralysis following a stroke. She was one of Miracle's "kids" and was 17 years old.

Rainbow Bridge Angels

She and her sister, Possum-eyed Jo, were born at Black Rock Ranch and even though they were never anywhere else, they knew this as a wonderful place to live 'cause "roaming" cats would pass through and talk to them through the window and tell some scary stories.

They were called the "Halloween Cats" because of their unique markings. Both had black and white and orange patches and both had little orange and white striped blocks on our coats just like Mama Miracle. Of course, Stubby considered herself the prettiest although she was usually a little overweight.

Favorite pastimes were eating, sleeping, and laying in the window or on the step in the play yard watching the birds. Meowmie carefully placed the Marten houses and bird feeder so they could watch from their windows.

Stubby and Possum had little spats sometimes and both would sit up on our bottoms and slap at each other. When Mama Miracle gets tired of it, she got between them and slapped both and sent them to opposite ends of the room.

Stubby loved to be hugged and petted and told what a sweet and beautiful girl she was, but most of all she loved to EAT!!!

Possum-Eyed Jo

Meroow!

I'm Possum-Eyed Jo, the smartest, bravest, fastest and most talented cat in the CatHouse. I was prettier that Stubby because I have this beautiful long tail and besides that, she was FAT!! I was so-named because I looked very much like a possum when I was a tiny kitten, but later became beautiful! Sometimes I fussed with my sisfur but now I will miss her very much!

I love to run and jump and climb. I leap into the air and hang on our play posts, slide down the slide in our play yard and run up the play posts faster than a squirrel could.

When I was growing up we had this wonderful Siamese named Kubla Kahn who lived in the CatHouse with us. He was kind to us but made us behave. He taught me everything I know. How to hunt and stalk and scare dogs and humans by arching my back, fuzzing out and spitting at them. (My Mom has a dog friend, but I have no idea why!)

There is this cat that comes out from the house with Meowmie on a leash. I thought he was Kubla one time, but when he got close, I saw that he wasn't so me and Stubby and Mama Miracle arched our backs and spit and growled at him. He didn't spit back and acted like we hurt his feelings, but we didn't care.

He shouldn't have pretended to be Kubla! Meowmie said his name is Genghis and he was just trying to be friendly, but we were having none of that. So he stays over on his side of the yard and visits with the dogs.

Got to go--got important stuff to do. Oh, by the way, I will allow a hug once in a while, but don't get too mushy with me!
