THE BRIDGE

This bridge that brings me back to you
A welcome sight to love so true

The waters calm, the pathway wide
The journey shortens with mare's each stride

The time apart, the journey long
My heart at once is filled with song

Again to see your smiling face
Without this bridge could not take place

So thank the man who made it strong
To carry my horse and buggy along

It spans the waters both deep and wide
To bring me ever nearer to your side

To call it plain would be unkind
This dear old bridge, this friend of mine
