Brownies complete one activity from each group.
Juniors complete eight activities including one from each group.
Cadettes and Seniors complete ten activities including one from each group.
I. History
A. Create a story about famous Black Americans. (Include at least six in your story.)
B. INVESTIGATE (How did slaves come to this land? Why?)
C. Visit the King–Tisdel Cottage, Beach Institute or The Ralph Gilbert Civil Rights Museum
D. Take the Negro Heritage Tour
E. Walk River Street (How did the stones get there? Where were the slaves kept?)
F. Visit the Library review a news paper article (give the date, punishment and headlines on run away slaves)
II. Religion
A. What religion influenced African Americans most?
B. How did the first slaves communicate with each other?
C. Who was Harriet Tubman?
D. Make a collage about the underground Rail Road.
E. Learn one Negro Spiritual and discuss it’s meaning.
F. List 3 traditional religions of African Americans and give a brief history of their origin.
III. Art (Express yourself)
A. Create a “Who am I skit”
B. Write a poem about famous Black Americans that you know.
C. Make a small model of a famous event in history that involved a famous Black American.
D. Put up a Black History Bulletin Board at your group or troop meeting site.
E. Use clay to create a bust of a famous Black American.
F. Make a puppet of a famous Black American.
G. Create a dance using music from a famous Black American (Past or present)

VI. SPECIAL EVENTS
A. Attend or participate in the annual MLK Parade.
B. Attend the Black Heritage Festival Concert.
C. See a play during Black History month.
D. Participate in a dance or theater activity that relates to Black History.
E. Read a story or poem written by a Black American to your troop or group at the Library.
