(last program starts at 2:00)
The Girl Scout First Headquarters building, a National Historic site in downtown Savannah, is now open for troops and groups to visit. The building was originally the carriage house for the home of Andrew Low. Juliette Magill Gordon married Andrew's son, William, and they received the house as a wedding gift in 1886.
On March 12, 1912, Juliette Gordon Low founded the Girl Scout movement in the United States, holding the first meeting at the home of Miss Louisa Porter.
Mrs. Low's carriage house served as the Girl Scout Headquarters until 1915, when the National offices were started in Washington, D.C., and as a regular meeting place for local Girl Scouts for many years.
The following programs are now available at the First Headquarters Building.
