Questionnaire for Friends
This was sent to me from my friend Julie - it is a really good idea!
Okay... this seems kind of cool... but if you don't want to read it or send it on, I won't kill you or be after you or anything.... Dave said I had to do this so.... (Okay, everybody so here's the deal. Copy this entire e-mail and change the answers so that they apply to you...then send it to everyone you know INCLUDING the person who sent this to you. You should get back alot of " get-to-know-you " e-mails. You'll learn alot about your friends you may have never known. And I'll be on you if I don't get a reply with YOUR stuff *grins*) Ditto for me.

From Betty B. via Joyce and several other

Here's a Test for you.
This is interesting, go ahead and give it a try. Joyce
What to Leave First... (Have ready a piece of paper and pen)
You are in a desert. You have with you the following five animals: A lion, a cow, a horse, a sheep, and a monkey.
To escape the desert you are going to have to get rid of one of your animals. Which one do you drop? (You can use whatever logic you like BUT keep track of which animal is discarded and in what order)
You have 4 animals left.
The desert is burning up! It goes on for miles. Sand is everywhere. You realize, to get out, you are going to have drop another animal. Which do you drop?
You have 3 animals left.
Walk, walk, walk. Hot, hot, hot. Disaster! The Oasis that you were looking for is dried up! You have no choice but to drop another animal.
You have 2 animals left.
Ok, it's a long hot walk. You can see the edge of the desert way on the horizon. Unfortunately, you can only leave the desert with ONE animal. Which one do you drop and which one do you keep?
Before looking at the answers, make sure you know which animal you dropped in what order.
These answers are based on Japanese Archetypes.
The desert represents a hardship.
The animals represent . . . Lion = Pride Monkey = Your Children Sheep = friendship Cow = Basic Needs Horse = Your Passion.
So, in the face of hardship, you will sacrifice each of these things in turn. Your last animal represents that thing which you cling to at the expense of all others.--
Find this interesting?? and which did you hold onto against all odds?~
I can't figure this out!
What is the densest material
object?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The densest material object in the universe is a neutron star, which is left behind after a large star explodes in a supernova. Neutron stars are very small, only about 6-10 miles (10-15 kilometers) across, but they can weigh as much one and a half times the mass of the sun!
Neutron stars are not made out of regular atoms.
The pressure inside is so huge that the electrons and protons of the atoms
are squeezed together into neutrons, which turns the star into a single
giant nucleus. A piece of neutron star material the size of a grain of
sand would be as massive as a skyscraper!
That's pretty dense.

or to ask a question about them, visit "Ask a NASA Scientist"

What color is a polar
bear's fur?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The obvious answer, white, is incorrect. The fur of a polar bear is actually made of clear, hollow tubes. Their rough inner surfaces cause visible light to be scattered and reflected at different angles, giving the polar bear a white appearance.
The clear, hollow fur warms the bear by trapping and transmitting ultraviolet light to the black skin underneath, while at the same time providing insulation from the cold. The ability of the fur to act as a solar heater supplies as much as 25% of the bear's energy needs during the sunny summer months.
While polar bears have thick fur, their main insulation from the cold is a layer of fat underneath their skin. This fat layer can be as much as 4.5 inches (11 centimeters) thick!
That's pretty dense too!

How fast are tornado
winds?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The wind speeds in tornadoes may exceed 300 mph (480 km/hr)!
Tornadoes are violently rotating columns of air that extend from the clouds to the ground. Usually associated with severe thunderstorms, tornadoes are the most destructive weather phenomena.
Tornado winds rotate in a counterclockwise direction in the northern hemisphere, and in a clockwise direction in the southern hemisphere. This is due to an effect (the "Coriolis" effect) caused by the Earth's rotation.
Tornadoes can pick up objects and move them great distances. On April 15, 1979, canceled checks fell from the sky in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The checks were from a bank hit by a tornado earlier that day in Wichita Falls, Texas. They had traveled over 200 miles (320 km)!

The largest known prime number is two to the power of 3,021,377 minus one;
written out, this number has 909,526 digits!
A prime number is any positive whole number (greater than 1) divisible only by itself or 1. (The first few primes are 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19.) Mathematicians have a particular interest in primes, because they are important for understanding many properties of numbers. All whole numbers greater than 1 can be uniquely factored into primes, and it has been known for over 2,000 years that there is no largest prime; there are infinitely many of them.
Primes are also important in cryptography. Certain codes are created by multiplying two large primes together; breaking such codes requires factoring the result back into the two primes.

What is the lightest
solid material?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The lightest solid material is silica
aerogel, which can weigh as little as three times as much as air! (Typically,
it is denser: about 0.1 gram per cubic centimeter.)
The molecular structure of silica aerogel is typically 95% empty space. (The part that is empty space can be as little as 85% or as much as 99.87%.) It has a misty, translucent look, like frozen smoke, but it breaks like glass.
Aerogel is an excellent thermal insulator, used in car engines, house walls, and the Mars Rover. It's made of silica molecules, the same as in glass and sand. To make aerogel, silica is dissolved in alcohol to form a dilute gel. When the alcohol is evaporated, a mostly empty skeleton of silica molecules is left behind.

What were the most severe earthquakes ever recorded in North America?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The New Madrid earthquakes, which occurred at New Madrid, Missouri between
December 1811 and March 1812, are considered the most severe earthquakes
ever recorded in North America. Five of them are estimated to have measured
at least 8.0 on the Richter scale.
The largest of the earthquakes were felt over two-thirds of the United States and parts of Canada. They were so powerful that the Mississippi River actually flowed backwards for a time, and in some areas around New Madrid, the ground shifted as much as 20 feet!

The longest continuous railroad on earth is the Trans-Siberian Railway.
The railway connects Moscow, Russia's capital city, with Vladivostok, Russia's major port city on the Pacific Ocean. It is almost 6,000 miles (10,000 kilometers) long. That's roughly twice the distance from New York to San Francisco!
Construction of the railway was initiated in 1891 by Czar Alexander III, and completed by 1905. Much of the work was done by exiled criminals and political offenders.
To see a map of the railway and read more
about it, visit

Today, the Trans-Siberian Railway is a major tourist attraction. To read about points of interest along the way, visit http://www.interknowledge.com/russia/trasib01.htm

Like a coating of glaze over earthenware are fervent lips with an evil heart. (Proverbs 26:23)
A wise man has great power, and a man of knowledge increases strength. (Proverbs 24:5)
My son, pay attention to what I say; listen closely
to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart;
for they are life to those who find them and health to a man's whole body.
Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life. Put
away perversity from your mouth; keep corrupt talk far from your lips.
Let your eyes look straight ahead, fix your gaze directly before you. Make
level paths for your feet and take only ways that are firm. Do not swerve
to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil. (Proverbs 4:20-27)
