2.SIR THOMAS BRYAN (EDMOND1) was born 1438 in England. He married LADY MARGARET BOWSEY born 1418, daughter of Josh BOWSEY and Margaret BARNES in 1463.

3.SIR THOMAS BRYAN, II (THOMAS2 EDMOND1)was born cir. 1464 and died between 01 Oct. 1508 and 30 Jan. 1517, probably in 1516. He was knighted by King Henry VIIin 1497, and was Vice Chamberlain to Queen Katherine of Aragon. He married LADY MARGARET BOURGCHIER (*), was born 1468, in Yorkshire, England. Daughter of SIR HUMPHREY BOURGCHIER and LADY ELIZABETH TILNEY, she was governess to first Princess Mary Tudor, later to Princess Elizabeth Tudor. She died in 1551/52.

4.SIR FRANCIS BRYAN (THOMAS3 THOMAS2 EDMOND1)was born cir. 1490, in Childington, Bucks, England. He married LADY JOAN FITZ-GERALD 1548 in Childington, Bucks, England,(Dowager Duchess of Ormond) daughter of JAMES F. FITZGERALD and AMY O'BRIEN. Thomas died Feb. 02,1549/50, in Clonmel, Tipperary, Ireland.

5.FRANCIS BRYAN, II (FRANCIS4 THOMAS3 THOMAS2 EDMOND1)was born in 1549, in Claire, Ireland. He married ANNE SMITH 1580, in Claire, Ireland. ANNE SMITH was born abt. 1560, in Yorkshire, Claire, Ireland, daughter of Sir WILLIAM SMITH. Francis Bryan II held large estates in County Clare.

6.SIR WILLIAM SMITH BRYAN (FRANCIS5 FRANCIS4 THOMAS3 THOMAS2 EDMOND1)was born abt. 1600 in Claire, Ireland. He married CATHERINE MORGAN, born 1604 in Claire, Ireland. Co. William Smith Bryan seemed to be Irish through and through. His followers dubbed him "Prince William of Irland" and during the Puritan rebellion he attempted to gain the throne of Ireland, and was deported by Cromwell in 1650. WILLIAM SMITH BRYAN, from whom the American family descends, was together with his family and possessions, exiled to the Virginia Colony for anti-English insurgent activities. The final 't' ('BRYANT') was added to the name at the time of the American Revolutionary War. Both died in Cloucester, Virginia.

6.SIR FRANCIS BRYAN III (WILLIAM6FRANCIS5 FRANCIS4 THOMAS3 THOMAS2 EDMOND1)was born in 1630 in Claire, Ireland. He married SARAH BRINKER,who was born 1634 in Denmark in 1667. Sarah died est. 1687-1729. Francis died 1694 in Belfast Down, Ireland.

WILLIAM BRYAN, b. abt. 1685, m. Margaret est. 1702-35, d. 1789 in Salem, Roanoke, VA.

8. MORGAN BRYAN (FRANCIS7 WILLIAM 6 FRANCIS5 FRANCIS4 THOMAS3 THOMAS2 EDMOND1 was born abt. 1671 in Denmark(deported with his father and family to the colony of Virginia by Cromwell). Morgan and his brother William came to Pennsylvania in 1718. There he married MARTHA STRODE abt. 1719 and settled near Winchester, PA and this is where all his children were born. When his children were grown, they and Morgan went on to North Carolina. Morgan died 1763 in Yadkin River, Rowan Co., NC. MARTHA STRODE was born possibly in Holland between 1678/1690. She died 1747/1762 in Rowan Co., NC. Morgan's last will in on file in Rowan County, NC. Will Book A, page 13.

8. JOSEPH BRYAN (MORGAN 8 FRANCIS7 WILLIAM 6 FRANCIS5 FRANCIS4 THOMAS3 THOMAS2 EDMOND1 was born between 1718/1720 in Chester Co., PA. He married ALEE LINVILLE abt. 1748. He died between 1804/1805 in Kentucky. She died 1807 in Kentucky. His burial was in 1805 at Floyd's Fork, Shelby, Kentucky.

From a State of Missouri, County of Monroe letter of administration on the estate of Joseph Bryan, Jr. filed by his son-in-law, Martin Grove, which names his heirs.
"State of Missouri, County of Monroe--I, Martin Grove, who makes application for Letters of Administration on the estate of Joseph Bryan, dec'd, do on Oath state that there is as heirs of said deceased the following heirs and Legatees to wit; Samuel Bryan, Susan Bower, Polly Grove, Alsey Love, Manervy Brown, children of said deceased who reside in the county and state aforesaid and Susan Mills, Joseph Callaway, Etiline Mathews, Casandry Haley children of Sary Callaway dec'd. who was a daughter of said Joseph Bryan deceased the two first names reside in Monroe County and the two last names in Randolph County and State of Missouri.
And that the said Joseph Bryan died without a will so far as I know or believe and that I will make a perfect inventory of and faithfully administer all of the estate of the deceased and pay the debts as far as the assets will extend and the law ??? and account for and pay all assets which shall come to his knowledge or possession".
Sary (Sarah?) Callaway died before 1830 but all the others were in Monroe County in and around the town of Madison, as was Stephen W. Callaway. Alice lived in Sullivan Co., IL for a time prior to moving to Missouri in the 1840s.
