Native of Coshocton Dies Early Today at Pennsylvania Home
Mrs. Oran D. Guthrie, native of coshocton county, died at 5:15 a.m.
today at her home in Beallsville, PA as the result of a cerebral
hemorrhage which she suffered Sunday morning. She was 40.
Grace Hardesty was born at Conesville March 24, 1900, a duaghter of
Mr. and Mrs. Henry J. Hardesty. She was graduated from Conesville
High School and was a teacher in Coshocton county schools for
several years. On Nov 18, 1920 she was married to Oran D. Guthrie,
who survives.
Mrs. Guthrie was a former member of the Conesville Methodist Church
and has been engaged in church and lodge work at Beallsville where
she recently formed a chapter of the American Legion Auxiliary.
She and Mr. Guthrie operated a grocery and restaurant in Beallsville,
where they had resided for seven years.
Surviving besides the husband are three daughters, Oveda, Adele
and Wanda, all of the home; the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry J.
Hardesty of Conesville; two sisters, Miss Gladys Hardesty of
Conesville and Mrs. Clyde Hankins of Coshocton, and two brothers
Edmond and James Hardesty both of Marianna, Pa.
Brief rites will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the home in
Beallsville, after which the body will be brought to the parents'
home in Conesville, where it may be viewed by friends after 7 p.m.
Thursday. Additional services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at
Conesville Methodist church. Burial will be in South Lawn cemetery.
