Opal Leavengood Hardesty Townsend

Mrs. Arthur Townsend, 56, died unexpectedly at 6:30 a.m. Sunday at her home,
201 North Oak St., West Lafayette.

Opal Leavengood was born April 11, 1903 in Freson, a daughter of Samuel and
Dollie Norman Leavengood.

In august, 1926, she was married to Alfred E. Hardesty, who died in 1943. In
October, 1947, she was married to Arthur Townsend, who survives.

Also surviving are one son, Alva Hardesty, West Lafayette; two sisters, Mrs.
Fern Deeds, Canton, Mrs. John Ely, Coshocton, and two grandsons. Three
brothers are deceased.

She was a school teacher for many years in Coshocton county and for the past
14 years in the Fresno grade school.

She was a member of the Fresno Methodist Church, Loyal Workers class of the
Sunday school and the WSCS. Mrs. Townsend also was a member of the following
teachers' Associations: National Education Association, Ohio Education
Association, Coshocton County Educational Association.

Funeral services will be Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Fresno
Methodist church with the pastor, Rev. Arthur Williams, and Rev. W.E. Powell
of Coshocton, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery, Fresno.

Friends may call at the Bonnell funeral home at West Lafayette from 7 to 9
this evening, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
