In the desert in Arizona, there are many plants and
animals. This story is about a very special plant and a very
special animal. The two were friends, evne though they were
different.
Here is Edward. He is a cactus. He is very sad because
he thinks that he will never find a friend "I am very sad!"
cried Edward, "No one likes me, because I have many spines. I
wish that I could run away but I don't have legs." Edward cried
for the rest of the night.
Here is Miguel. He is a turtle. He is very sad because he
is very slow and thinks that eh will never find a friend, "I am
so sad!" cried Miguel, "Everyone laughs at me! I have no
friends! I wish that I could fly, but I don't have wings." He
cried for the rest of the night.
A great bird heard the cries of Edward and Miguel, "Why
don't I help them to make friends?" he thought. "If I could
introduce them- but, how could a plant and an animal be
friends?" the bird decided to sing to Edward and to Miguel that
they should be friends, even though they were different. He sang
to them and filled with joy. He told Edward, and he smiled!
When Edward and Miguel me, they were very happy. Miguel
did not mind that Edward had spines and Edward did not mind that
Miguel was slow. They talked for hours.
Miguel and Edward were great friends. They helped
eachother to clean their homes and to make dinner. They thanked
the bird.
Now, all the palnts and all the animals get along, just
like Edward and Miguel did. If you make an example to other
people,they will be happy. I think that everyone can can be
friends with everyone else.
